3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near Princeton
In Princeton, NJ, Oak Crest offers two programs: a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program, both within our Munchkin Division. Our camp maintains an excellent camper-to-staff ratio, typically with 10 to 12 campers and 3 to 4 staff members per group. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a Munchkin Specialist who is specially recruited and trained to cater to the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program focuses on three key aspects: enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, teaching swimming skills, and fostering social development.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of various sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. These adaptations include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, ensuring that even our 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers can experience success in these sports. Our athletic specialists are trained specifically to work with this age group, guiding your child in acquiring fundamental sports skills in a manner that is both age-appropriate and engaging.
Creative Arts
Located in Princeton, NJ, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as a remarkable hub for artistic expression. Here, your child will have the opportunity to engage in a wide array of artistic activities, all conducted in well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Weekly, our campers actively participate in activities encompassing Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Adding to the enriching experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production that takes place during the 6th week of camp. This event, far from modest, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
At Oak Crest’s Princeton, NJ location, our Summer Camp adventure includes Climbing and Ropes Courses as integral components. We have established a low ropes course with two primary objectives: fostering the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkins and equipping them with the essential skills required to navigate our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in activities such as climbing, exploring, and swinging, all while being just inches above the ground.
To ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. In addition, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a life skill; it’s a vital proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex at the Princeton, NJ location of Oak Crest. Our commitment to excellence is evident in our annual training of instructors, which draws from both American Red Cross guidelines and over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We unequivocally guarantee that your child will master the art of swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginners, our Aquatic Facility features two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand, enhancing their comfort and initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the assistance of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, promoting camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
An enchanting aspect of the camp experience lies in the development of children’s ability to navigate group dynamics, fostering increased confidence and independence. As they transition between various activities, the group actively participates in cultivating friendships, collaboration, sharing, taking turns, and learning respectful interaction with both peers and staff. Our dedicated staff empowers Munchkin campers to express themselves verbally and guides them in direct communication. Oak Crest offers a nurturing environment where children acquire vital emotional and social skills necessary for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To meet the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, enjoying the first lunch period of the day. The Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, guaranteeing a personalized and accommodating approach.
