In Sayreville, NJ, Oak Crest offers two programs: a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain an excellent camper-to-staff ratio, typically having 10 to 12 campers per 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a Munchkin Specialist, specially trained to meet the needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program focuses on a three-pronged approach:
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of various sports activities tailored for our youngest campers. From mini-soccer and mini-basketball to t-ball and gymnastics, we have adapted these traditional sports to ensure that our 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers can experience success. Our athletic specialists are specifically trained to work with this age group, guiding your child in learning the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Located in Sayreville, NJ, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as an exceptional hub for artistic expression. Your child will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms led by experienced art instructors. Each week, our campers actively participate in activities such as Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature Exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Adding to the depth of this experience, every Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. Far from modest, Showcrest is a longstanding tradition occurring during the 6th week of camp. It unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
At Oak Crest’s Sayreville, NJ location, Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp adventure. We’ve established a low ropes course with two primary objectives: enhancing the gross motor skills of our Munchkins and equipping them with essential skills for the Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploring, and swinging, all while being just inches above the ground.
Safety is paramount to us. Our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the construction company at the start of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to ensure a secure environment for the campers.
At Oak Crest’s Sayreville, NJ location, we view swimming as not just a life skill but an essential proficiency, best acquired at our newly established, cutting-edge 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is demonstrated through our annual training of instructors, which draws from both American Red Cross guidelines and our extensive practical experience spanning over 25 years in teaching children to swim. We wholeheartedly guarantee that your child will achieve mastery in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginners, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility includes two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can stand comfortably. This significantly enhances their comfort level and initial progress. Each morning, our campers partake in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the assistance of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors alike.
An enchanting facet of our camp experience is the cultivation of children’s adeptness in navigating group dynamics, leading to heightened confidence and independence. As they transition between different activities, our campers actively participate in building friendships, collaborative endeavors, sharing, taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both peers and staff. Our dedicated staff empowers Munchkin campers to express themselves through verbal communication, guiding them in direct interaction. At Oak Crest, we provide a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills essential for success in life.
We take special care of the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins. They have a dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, enjoying the first lunch period of the day. The Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
