3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near South Bound Brook

In South Bound Brook, New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program for young campers. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain a favorable camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per group with 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a Munchkin Specialist, specially recruited and trained to cater to the needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.

The Munchkin Program focuses on a threefold approach:

  • Enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities.
  • Developing swimming skills.
  • Promoting social development among the young campers.

Munchkin Athletics

Oak Crest provides modified versions of a variety of sports activities to cater to the needs of our youngest campers. These adaptations include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, which have been tailored to ensure that even the youngest participants can experience success. Our athletic specialists are specifically trained to work with 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers, guiding them in learning the fundamental skills of these sports in a manner that is both age-appropriate and engaging.

Creative Arts

Located in South Bound Brook, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as a prominent hub for fostering artistic expression. Within this center, your child will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse array of artistic activities conducted in well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors.

Each week, our campers actively participate in a wide range of activities, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.

Furthermore, enhancing the richness of this experience, every Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This is no small event; Showcrest, a long-standing tradition during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, featuring professional-grade sound and lighting to create a truly remarkable spectacle.

Low Ropes

Climbing and Ropes Courses play pivotal roles in the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s South Bound Brook, NJ location. We have established a low ropes course with dual objectives: to foster the development of gross motor skills in our young campers and equip them with essential skills for navigating our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our campers engage in activities such as climbing, exploring, and swinging, all while being just inches above the ground.

To ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the start of each season. In addition, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.

Learn to Swim

Swimming is not merely a life skill but also a vital proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in South Bound Brook, NJ. Our commitment to excellence is demonstrated through our annual training of instructors, which draws on both American Red Cross guidelines and more than 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We wholeheartedly guarantee that your child will master the art of swimming at Oak Crest.

For our beginners, our cutting-edge Aquatic Facility includes two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This enhances their comfort level and initial progress significantly. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with assistance from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors.

Social Development

One of the most captivating facets of the camp experience is the development of children’s proficiency in navigating group dynamics, which in turn fosters increased confidence and independence. As they transition between different activities, campers actively participate in cultivating friendships, collaborative endeavors, sharing, taking turns, and acquiring the ability to interact respectfully with both their peers and staff members. Our dedicated staff is committed to empowering Munchkin campers to express themselves through words and guiding them in direct communication. Oak Crest offers a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills necessary for success in life.

Munchkin Lunch

To meet the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have their own designated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, where they enjoy the first lunch period of the day. The Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any specific dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
