3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near Woodbridge
In Woodbridge, New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both 5 full-day and 3 full-day programs for young children. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically having 10 to 12 campers supervised by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, every activity is overseen by a specialized Munchkin Specialist, meticulously selected and trained to meet the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program places emphasis on a three-pronged approach, including the development of gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, the acquisition of swimming proficiency, and the nurturing of social development.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of various sports activities tailored to suit the needs of our youngest campers. Our offerings include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, all carefully adapted to ensure that even the youngest participants can experience success.
Our athletic specialists are specifically trained to work with 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers, guiding them in acquiring the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner. Your child will thoroughly enjoy the learning process under their expert guidance.
Creative Arts
Located in Woodbridge, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as an exceptional hub for fostering artistic expression. Your child will have the unique opportunity to engage in a wide variety of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms, all under the guidance of experienced art instructors.
Our campers actively participate in a diverse range of activities on a weekly basis, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
To further enrich the experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. Far from a modest event, Showcrest, which takes place during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp adventure at Oak Crest’s Woodbridge, NJ location. We’ve established a low ropes course with dual objectives: enhancing the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkins and equipping them with the essential skills needed to navigate our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging, all while being just inches above the ground.
To ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Additionally, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming transcends being merely a life skill; it stands as an indispensable proficiency that finds its optimal acquisition in our newly established, cutting-edge 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex at our Woodbridge, NJ location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is manifested through our annual instructor training programs, which draw upon both the guidelines of the American Red Cross and a substantial reservoir of practical experience amassed over 25 years of teaching children to swim. We unconditionally assure you that your child will attain mastery in the art of swimming at Oak Crest.
For our novice swimmers, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, designed to ensure that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This approach significantly enhances their comfort and initial progress. Each morning, our campers partake in a 40-minute swim lesson conducted by a certified swim instructor, with the support of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with both fellow campers and group counselors alike.
Social Development
A captivating facet of the camp experience centers on the nurturing of children’s proficiency in navigating group dynamics. This process facilitates the development of heightened confidence and independence within them. As they transition between diverse activities, the group actively participates in the cultivation of friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and the acquisition of respectful interaction skills with both peers and staff members.
Our dedicated staff members play a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to express their thoughts using words and offer guidance in fostering direct communication. At Oak Crest, we create a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills that are indispensable for achieving success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
In catering to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkin group benefits from a distinct dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp. They have the privilege of enjoying the first lunch period of the day. Our Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
