Junior Athletics

Creative Arts
Your child’s creative spirit will flourish in our air-conditioned classrooms in 08824, NJ, under the guidance of experienced art teachers. Campers are immersed in a diverse range of artistic activities, including ceramics, music, mad science, cooking, drama, nature exploration, ‘Camper vs. Wild’ adventures, dance, digital photography, jewelry making, computers, and more, with a new focus each week.
In addition, all Junior Girl groups have the opportunity to shine in our annual event, ‘Showcrest,’ a grand Dance and Drama Production. Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of the Oak Crest experience, offered at our state-of-the-art aquatic facility in 08824, NJ. Our aquatic facilities are exceptional, designed to cater to the unique needs of our Junior campers.
For 3rd Grade Juniors, we have a recently constructed, state-of-the-art 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex exclusively tailored for children aged 3-8. On the other hand, our 4th Grade Juniors have the privilege of swimming in our Gigantic Pool, equipped with eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities provide the safety of shallow water, allowing us to accommodate swimmers of varying skill levels by initiating them in standing depth and gradually progressing them into deeper waters as their abilities develop.
Each morning, Juniors engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with the added support of group counselors. Our swim lessons are skill-based, not age-based, ensuring a challenging and personalized experience for swimmers at all levels. Our instructors undergo annual training and certification, adhering to American Red Cross standards while drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoon, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in our inviting pools.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
At Oak Crest in 08824, NJ, we understand that mastering the skill of riding a bicycle is a significant childhood milestone. That’s why we’ve created the perfect environment for children to achieve this goal at our brand new Bicycle Village. This facility boasts a 1/4 mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail.
Learning to ride a bike not only fosters independence but also imparts valuable lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors provide personalized attention, helping novice riders build the confidence they need. As campers progress, they can take part in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, where Oak Crest provides appropriately sized bikes and helmets to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
Ropes Courses
In 08824, NJ, our Junior campers at Oak Crest have the unique opportunity to participate in all of our Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to become acquainted with belaying and tackle various elements resembling those found in our High Ropes Course. Our Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a thrilling 200-yard zip line, and an exhilarating Giant Swing. For those seeking an added challenge, our High Ropes Course features additional rock walls and mid-air obstacles.
Prior to each season, our ropes courses undergo rigorous safety inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who expertly guide groups through the courses, conduct daily inspections to ensure ongoing safety and a secure environment for our campers.
Choice
In 08824, NJ, during the Choice period, Oak Crest campers have the opportunity to select an activity for the week. Each week, campers can choose from a regularly updated list of options, providing them with a chance to explore new interests. In addition to a wide range of athletic and creative activities, Junior campers can also opt to participate in our annual Drama Production or be a part of a specific Dance routine. This highly anticipated annual event is known as ‘Showcrest,’ offering campers a chance to showcase their talents and creativity.
