Oak Crest Day Camp, situated near Raritan, NJ, is an exceptional summer destination designed for children aged 3 to 15 years. Known for its convenience, the camp provides door-to-door transportation, making it an ideal choice for busy parents. Younger campers can enjoy swimming, biking, rock climbing, and arts and crafts, combining fun and educational experiences.
As children mature, they can participate in specialized programs like day trips and overnight excursions, fostering adventure and independence while building lifelong skills. 3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins)
Oak Crest’s Munchkin Division offers two program options: a 5 full-day and a 3 full-day program, catering to children aged 3 to 5. We maintain a low camper-to-staff ratio, typically having 10 to 12 campers per group with 3 to 4 staff members, ensuring personalized attention and a focus on safety and nurturing care.
One of the core focuses in the Munchkin Program is swimming. We prioritize building comfort and proficiency in the water, enhancing gross and fine motor skills, all under the guidance of specially trained Munchkin Specialists. This approach ensures an age-appropriate and enriching experience for your child, helping them develop essential skills.
Explorers (1st and 2nd Graders)
In the Explorers program at Raritan’s Oak Crest, similar to the Munchkin Division, children participate in a variety of athletic and creative activities while also focusing on improving their swimming abilities and nurturing their social and emotional intelligence. First graders are introduced to exciting elements like the Climbing Tower, Zipline, Giant Swing, and GAGA.
As campers progress into the second grade, they have the opportunity to enjoy CHOICE periods, allowing them to select their preferred activities on a weekly basis, creating a personalized and engaging camp experience.
Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders)
At Oak Crest near Raritan, the Junior program offers a diverse array of activities such as Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, and Camper vs. Wild. This comprehensive program includes a mix of athletic and creative pursuits, along with Instructional Swim and access to the Climbing Tower.
Additionally, Juniors have the opportunity to partake in Late Nights, granting them extended camp access. This special evening includes a special dinner, extra swim time, games, a unique event, and a twilight campfire featuring S’mores for an enjoyable and memorable camp experience.
Seniors (5th & 6th Graders)
At Oak Crest near Raritan, Senior campers engage in a comprehensive program that encompasses all camp activities, along with multiple exhilarating day trips to places like Dorney Park. They also have access to a wide range of advanced Choice offerings. Furthermore, Senior Late Nights are a part of their experience, providing extended camp hours, a special dinner, extra swim time, games, a unique event, and a twilight campfire complete with S’mores, ensuring a memorable and enriching camp adventure.
Teen Travel (7th, 8th, & 9th Graders)
Choice periods at Raritan’s Oak Crest allow campers to pick an activity to engage in for the week, with a fresh selection available each week. Besides the assortment of athletic and creative options, Seniors also have the opportunity to take part in our annual Drama Production or join our special Dance routine, known as Showcrest. The Senior participants in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently stand out as the highlights of the show.
Social Development
At Raritan’s Oak Crest, camp counselors play a crucial role in guiding groups through team-building activities and competitions. These experiences aim to cultivate teamwork, support, and effective communication among campers. This structured environment is instrumental in promoting respect and nurturing lasting friendships. Oak Crest is unwavering in its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, prioritizing the creation of a caring and supportive atmosphere where children and adolescents can develop vital emotional and social skills.
LIT Program (10th & 11th Graders)
The LIT (Leadership-in-Training) Experience, offered at Raritan’s Oak Crest, provides a hands-on platform for developing leadership skills in a dynamic setting. Open to 9th, 10th, and 11th graders, this program centers on problem-solving, role modeling, and teamwork. Its primary focus is on fostering responsibility among participants, with the aim of preparing them for future success in both their academic pursuits and professional careers. Additionally, it positions them for potential roles as exemplary camp staff members.
