Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders) Summer Camp near 07060
At Oak Crest in 07060, NJ, junior campers engage in a diverse array of activities, from archery and mountain biking to lacrosse, high ropes, BMX, skatepark, pioneering, and more. Their schedule includes a mix of athletic and creative pursuits, as well as instructional swim sessions and access to the climbing tower. A distinctive feature for our junior campers is the Late Night program, which enables them to extend their stay for an exclusive dinner, additional swim time, extra games, a special event, and a twilight campfire with S’mores.
Junior Athletics
Our Junior program, located in 07060, New Jersey, boasts a wide array of athletic activities held on full-size fields. Each week, campers can enjoy soccer, football, tennis, lacrosse, archery, basketball, hockey, and more. Additionally, our juniors have the opportunity to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program, which are led by specialized athletic instructors. These sessions offer skill instruction followed by enjoyable games designed to reinforce the newly acquired skills. Oak Crest counselors actively engage and collaborate with our specialists to create meaningful success opportunities for our campers.
At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where groups actively participate in soccer, handball, football, and dodgeball. The activities and opponents rotate on a weekly basis, ensuring a dynamic and competitive experience that keeps our campers engaged and excited.
Creative Arts
Your child will immerse themselves in a wide range of artistic activities led by seasoned art instructors in air-conditioned classrooms located in 07060, NJ. Our campers engage in a weekly rotation of creative pursuits, including ceramics, music, mad science, cooking, drama, nature exploration, pioneering, dance, digital photography, jewelry making, computer activities, and more.
Additionally, all Junior Girl groups have the exciting opportunity to showcase a dance routine in our annual event, ‘Showcrest.’ This grand Dance and Drama Production occurs during the sixth week of camp and is held in the evening at a local venue. The event features professional sound and lighting, providing a remarkable platform for our young talents to shine.
Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of the Oak Crest experience. Our aquatic facility in 07060, NJ, is state-of-the-art and unparalleled in quality. Third-grade juniors benefit from our recently constructed, exclusive 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex, specifically designed for 3-8 year-olds. Meanwhile, fourth-grade juniors enjoy swimming in our Gigantic Pool, equipped with eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities offer shallow water areas, allowing us to start all swimmers in standing depth and progressively move them into deeper water as their skills advance.
Every morning, our juniors participate in a 40-minute swim lesson, guided by certified swim instructors, with additional support from group counselors. Our swim lessons are skill-based, rather than age-based, ensuring a challenging experience for swimmers of all levels. We annually train and certify our instructors, adhering not only to American Red Cross standards but also drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoon, juniors have the opportunity for free swim in the pools.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
At Oak Crest, located in 07060, NJ, mastering the art of bicycle riding is considered a significant childhood milestone. Our camp provides the perfect environment for children to achieve this milestone through our state-of-the-art Bicycle Village. This facility boasts a 1/4-mile training course, a cutting-edge pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Beyond fostering independence, cycling imparts valuable lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors provide individualized attention, allowing novice riders to build the confidence they need. As campers progress, they can take part in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, with Oak Crest providing appropriately sized bikes and helmets.
Ropes Courses
In 07060, NJ, our Junior campers at Oak Crest have the unique opportunity to engage in all of our Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to familiarize themselves with belaying techniques and navigate various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. Our Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and the thrilling Giant Swing. The High Ropes course offers additional rock walls and challenging mid-air obstacles.
To prioritize safety, our ropes courses undergo comprehensive safety inspections and receive certification from the same company responsible for their construction before each season. In addition, our certified ropes instructors, who guide groups through the courses, conduct daily inspections to ensure the ongoing safety of all participants.
Choice
In 07060, NJ, during the Choice period at Oak Crest, campers enjoy the freedom to select their activities for the week. Each week, they can opt for a new activity from a constantly refreshed list. In addition to a diverse range of athletic and creative choices, our Junior campers also have the opportunity to participate in our annual Drama Production or join a specific Dance routine. This much-anticipated annual event is known as ‘Showcrest,’ where our young talents shine on stage.
Social Development
