Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders) Summer Camp near 07095
At Oak Crest in 07095, NJ, our Junior campers engage in a diverse array of activities such as Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, Camper vs. Wild (pioneering), and more. Their schedule includes a mix of athletic and creative pursuits, along with Instructional Swim and the Climbing Tower. An exclusive benefit for Juniors is our Late Night program, allowing them to extend their stay for a special dinner, additional swim time, extra games, a unique event, and a twilight campfire featuring S’mores.
Junior Athletics
Our Junior program in 07095, New Jersey, offers a wide variety of athletic activities on full-size fields. Weekly schedules feature sports such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, and more. In addition, juniors have the opportunity to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program. These sessions, led by Athletic Specialists, include skill instruction followed by games that reinforce the newly acquired skills. Oak Crest counselors actively participate, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful success opportunities for campers.
At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where groups engage in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. The activities and opponents rotate weekly, providing a dynamic and competitive experience for our young campers.
Creative Arts
Your child will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of artistic activities led by experienced art teachers in air-conditioned classrooms in 07095, NJ. Our campers engage in activities such as Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more on a weekly basis.
In addition, all Junior Girl groups participate in a special showcase, performing a dance routine in our annual event, Showcrest. This grand Dance and Drama Production is a significant highlight and takes place during the sixth week of camp at a local venue in the evening. It features professional sound and lighting, creating a memorable experience for both participants and their families.
Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a fundamental and integral part of the Oak Crest experience. Our state-of-the-art aquatic facility in 07095, NJ, is truly exceptional. Specifically, our 3rd Grade Juniors benefit from our recently constructed, state-of-the-art 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex, meticulously designed exclusively for 3-8 year-olds. Simultaneously, our 4th-grade Juniors enjoy swimming in our expansive Gigantic Pool, which boasts eight 25-meter lanes. Both of these facilities provide the advantage of shallow water, allowing us to initiate all swimmers at a standing depth and gradually transition them to deeper water as their skills progress.
Each morning, Juniors engage in a focused 40-minute swim lesson, skillfully guided by certified swim instructors, with additional support from group counselors. Our swim lessons are designed to be skill-based rather than age-based, ensuring that swimmers of all levels are appropriately challenged. We take pride in our annual training and certification of our instructors, adhering not only to American Red Cross standards but also drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children the art of swimming. In the afternoon, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in the pools, allowing them to further develop their aquatic skills and enjoy the water.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
Mastering the skill of riding a bicycle is a significant childhood milestone, and at Oak Crest in 07095, NJ, children have the perfect environment to achieve this goal – the recently inaugurated Bicycle Village. This facility boasts a 1/4 mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Beyond fostering independence, cycling imparts valuable lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors offer personalized attention, allowing novice riders to build the confidence they need. As campers progress, they can also participate in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, for which Oak Crest provides appropriately sized bikes and helmets.
Ropes Courses
In 07095, NJ, our Junior campers at Oak Crest have the unique opportunity to experience all of our Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned at a safe 5-foot height above the ground, allows campers to become familiar with belaying techniques and navigate several elements similar to those found in our more challenging High Ropes Course. The Climbing Tower is equipped with two distinct rock walls, a thrilling 200-yard zip line, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. The High Ropes Course offers additional rock walls and mid-air challenges, providing a thrilling experience for our campers.
To prioritize safety, our ropes courses undergo thorough safety inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction before each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who lead and supervise groups through the courses, conduct daily inspections to ensure the ongoing safety of all participants.
Choice
In 07095, NJ, during the Choice period at Oak Crest, campers enjoy the flexibility of selecting their preferred activity for the week. Every week, campers have the opportunity to choose from a constantly refreshed list of activities. In addition to a diverse array of athletic and creative options, Junior campers can also opt to participate in our annual Drama Production or take part in a specialized Dance routine. This highly anticipated yearly event is known as Showcrest.
Social Development
