Junior Athletics
Our Junior program in 07934, New Jersey, boasts a rich variety of athletic activities conducted on full-size fields. Our weekly schedules feature an impressive lineup including Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, and more. In addition, juniors have the opportunity to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program, led by experienced Athletic Specialists. These sessions entail skill instruction followed by engaging games that reinforce the newly acquired abilities. Our Oak Crest counselors actively participate, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for camper success.
At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where groups partake in competitive matches of Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These activities and opponents rotate weekly, ensuring a dynamic and spirited experience for our campers.
Creative Arts
Enroll your child in an enriching artistic experience within the comfort of air-conditioned classrooms in 07934, NJ. Our campers, guided by experienced art teachers, delve into a wide spectrum of creative activities. Each week, they immerse themselves in disciplines such as Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Moreover, for our Junior Girl groups, an exceptional highlight is their participation in Showcrest, an annual grand Dance and Drama Production. This magnificent showcase occurs during the sixth week of camp at a local venue in the evening, complete with professional sound and lighting, allowing our young talents to shine.
Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of our camp experience, set against the backdrop of our exceptional aquatic facility in 07934, NJ. Our state-of-the-art 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex, exclusively tailored for 3-8 year-olds, is a recent addition that 3rd Grade Juniors have the privilege of using. Meanwhile, 4th Grade Juniors enjoy swimming in our Gigantic Pool, equipped with eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities provide shallow water, allowing us to start all swimmers in standing depth and gradually advance them into deeper water as their skills progress.
Every morning, Juniors engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with additional support from our group counselors. Our swim lessons are skill-based rather than age-based, ensuring a challenging experience for swimmers of all levels. Our instructors undergo annual training and certification, adhering to American Red Cross standards and drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in the pools.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
At Oak Crest in 07934, NJ, mastering the art of bicycle riding is a pivotal childhood milestone, and we offer the perfect environment for achieving it—the newly established Bicycle Village. This facility comprises a 1/4 mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Beyond fostering independence, cycling imparts essential lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors provide individualized attention, helping novice riders gain the confidence they need. As campers advance, they have the opportunity to participate in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, with Oak Crest providing appropriately sized bikes and helmets for their safety and enjoyment.
Ropes Courses
In 07934, NJ, our Juniors at Oak Crest are given the unique opportunity to participate in all of our Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to become acquainted with belaying techniques and navigate various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. The Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. The High Ropes course offers even more rock walls and mid-air challenges.
Prior to the commencement of each season, our ropes courses undergo comprehensive safety inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who expertly guide groups through the courses, perform daily inspections to ensure an ongoing commitment to safety.
Choice
In 07934, NJ, during the Choice period, our campers enjoy the flexibility to select their activities for the week. Each week, campers can explore a fresh set of options from an ever-evolving list. In addition to the diverse array of athletic and creative choices available, our Junior campers also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in our annual Drama Production or become part of a specific Dance routine. This grand annual event is aptly named Showcrest.
Social Development
