Junior Athletics

Weekly schedules feature Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, and more. Furthermore, our juniors have the chance to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program, guided by experienced Athletic Specialists who provide skill instruction followed by skill-reinforcing games. At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where groups participate in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These activities and opponents change weekly, offering a dynamic and competitive experience for our campers.
Creative Arts
Your child will immerse themselves in a variety of artistic activities led by seasoned art instructors in air-conditioned classrooms in 07938, NJ. Our campers partake in weekly sessions of Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Camper vs. Wild adventures, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Additionally, all Junior Girl groups get the chance to showcase their talents in a grand annual event known as ‘Showcrest.’ This spectacular Dance and Drama Production unfolds during the sixth week of camp at a local venue in the evening. Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of our camp experience, set within our cutting-edge aquatic facility in 07938, NJ. Our state-of-the-art Aquatic Complex, spanning 12,000 square feet, is dedicated exclusively to 3-8 year-old 3rd Grade Juniors. Meanwhile, 4th Grade Juniors enjoy the Gigantic Pool, featuring eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities offer shallow water for initial instruction, allowing us to begin swimmers in standing depth and progressively move them into deeper waters as their skills develop.
Every morning, Juniors engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with group counselors providing additional support. Our swim lessons are skill-based, ensuring that swimmers of all levels find an appropriate challenge, rather than being age-based. Our instructors undergo annual training and certification, adhering to American Red Cross standards and drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoon, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in the pools.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
At Oak Crest in 07938, NJ, mastering the art of riding a bicycle is considered a significant childhood milestone, and we provide the perfect environment for achieving this goal with our state-of-the-art Bicycle Village. This facility features a 1/4 mile training course, a cutting-edge pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Learning to ride a bike not only fosters independence but also imparts valuable lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors offer personalized attention, allowing novice riders to build the confidence they need. As campers progress, they can further their skills by participating in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, with Oak Crest providing appropriately sized bikes and helmets.
Ropes Courses
In 07938, NJ, our Junior campers at Oak Crest have the unique opportunity to explore all of our Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to familiarize themselves with belaying techniques and navigate various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. Our Climbing Tower features two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and an exhilarating Giant Swing. The High Ropes course offers additional rock walls and challenging mid-air obstacles.
To prioritize safety, our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction before each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who lead groups through the courses, conduct daily inspections to ensure ongoing safety for all campers.
Choice
In 07938, NJ, our campers enjoy a unique opportunity during the Choice period, where they can select an activity for the week. Each week, campers have the option to try out a new activity from an ever-evolving list. In addition to a diverse range of athletic and creative choices, Junior campers also have the chance to participate in our annual Drama Production or become involved in a specific Dance routine. This exciting yearly event is known as Showcrest.
