Junior Athletics
Our Junior program, located in 07979, New Jersey, offers an extensive array of athletic activities conducted on full-size fields. Our weekly schedules feature sports like Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, and more. Additionally, juniors can explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program, all led by dedicated Athletic Specialists. These sessions include skill instruction and engaging games designed to reinforce the newly acquired skills. Oak Crest counselors actively participate, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful success opportunities for campers.
At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where groups participate in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. Each week brings new activities and opponents, ensuring a dynamic and competitive experience for our campers.
Creative Arts
Your child will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of artistic activities led by experienced art teachers in air-conditioned classrooms located in 07979, NJ. Our campers engage in weekly sessions of Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Additionally, all Junior Girl groups participate in a special showcase, ‘Showcrest,’ which is a grand Dance and Drama Production held during the sixth week of camp at a local venue in the evening. This event features professional sound and lighting, providing a memorable and significant experience for our young performers.
Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of the Oak Crest experience. Our state-of-the-art aquatic facility, situated in 07979, NJ, is truly exceptional. Third Grade Juniors have access to our recently constructed, tailor-made 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex designed exclusively for 3-8 year-olds. Meanwhile, Fourth Grade Juniors swim in our Gigantic Pool, featuring eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities offer shallow water areas, allowing us to introduce swimmers to standing depth and progressively advance them into deeper waters as their skills improve.
Each morning, Juniors participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with group counselors providing additional support. Our swim lessons are skill-based rather than age-based, ensuring a challenging experience for swimmers of all levels. Our instructors undergo annual training and certification, adhering to American Red Cross standards and benefiting from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoon, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in the pools.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
At Oak Crest in 07979, NJ, mastering the art of riding a bicycle is seen as a significant childhood milestone, and we’ve created the perfect environment for children to achieve this at our brand new Bicycle Village. This facility boasts a 1/4 mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Beyond promoting independence, cycling imparts crucial lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors offer personalized attention, helping novice riders gain the confidence they need. As campers advance, they can take part in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, complete with appropriately sized bikes and helmets provided by Oak Crest.
Ropes Courses
In 07979, NJ, Junior campers at Oak Crest have the opportunity to experience all of our Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to become acquainted with belaying techniques and navigate various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. The Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and the thrilling Giant Swing. The High Ropes course offers even more challenging rock walls and mid-air obstacles.
Before each season, our ropes courses undergo rigorous safety inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide groups through the courses, conduct daily inspections to ensure ongoing safety.
Choice
In 07979, NJ, during the Choice period at Oak Crest, campers have the flexibility to select an activity for the week from a regularly updated list. Each week, campers can explore a new activity of their choice. In addition to a diverse range of athletic and creative options, Junior campers also have the opportunity to participate in our annual Drama Production or join a specific Dance routine as part of the special event known as Showcrest.
Social Development
