At Oak Crest in 08542, NJ, junior campers engage in a rich variety of activities such as Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, Camper vs. Wild (pioneering), and more. Their schedule is packed with diverse athletic and creative pursuits, including Instructional Swim and the Climbing Tower. A special benefit for junior participants is the Late Night program, enabling them to extend their camp experience with a unique dinner, extra swim time, additional games, a special event, and a twilight campfire complete with S’mores.
Junior Athletics
Our Junior program in 08542, New Jersey, offers a diverse array of athletic activities on full-size fields. Each week, campers can partake in Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, and more. Furthermore, juniors have the chance to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program, led by dedicated Athletic Specialists. These sessions encompass skill instruction, followed by games that reinforce the newly acquired abilities. Creative Arts
Your child will immerse themselves in a wide range of artistic activities led by experienced art instructors in air-conditioned classrooms in 08542, NJ. Our campers engage in weekly sessions of Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Additionally, all Junior Girl groups have the opportunity to showcase their dance skills in our annual event, Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of the Oak Crest experience, and our state-of-the-art aquatic facility in 08542, NJ, sets the standard. Our 3rd Grade Juniors benefit from our recently constructed, exclusive 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex designed specifically for 3-8 year-olds. Meanwhile, our 4th grade Juniors enjoy swimming in our Gigantic Pool, featuring eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities provide shallow water, allowing us to start all swimmers in standing depth and progressively transition them to deeper water as their skills advance.
Every morning, Juniors engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with support from group counselors. These lessons are skill-based, offering a challenge for swimmers at all levels, rather than being age-based. Our instructors receive annual training and certification, adhering not only to American Red Cross standards but also drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in the pools.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
At Oak Crest in 08542, NJ, mastering the art of bicycle riding is seen as a significant childhood milestone, and we offer the perfect environment for children to achieve this goal—the all-new Bicycle Village. This facility features a 1/4 mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Beyond fostering independence, cycling imparts valuable lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors provide individualized attention, helping novice riders build the confidence they need. As campers progress, they can take part in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, with Oak Crest providing appropriately sized bikes and helmets for their safety.
Ropes Courses
In 08542, NJ, our Junior campers have the unique opportunity to participate in all of Oak Crest’s Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to become familiar with belaying techniques and tackle various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. Our Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and the thrilling Giant Swing, while the High Ropes course offers even more rock walls and mid-air challenges.
Prior to each season, our ropes courses undergo rigorous safety inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction. Additionally, our certified ropes instructors, who lead groups through the courses, conduct daily inspections to ensure ongoing safety.
Choice
In 08542, NJ, during the Choice period, campers have the freedom to select an activity for the week. Every week, campers can explore a new activity from a continuously refreshed list of options. In addition to a wide range of athletic and creative choices, Junior campers also have the opportunity to participate in our annual Drama Production or join a dedicated Dance routine. This highly anticipated yearly event is known as Showcrest.
