Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders) Summer Camp near 08553
At Oak Crest in 08553, NJ, junior campers enjoy an array of engaging activities such as Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, Camper vs. Wild (pioneering), and more. Their daily schedule includes a blend of athletic and creative pursuits, along with Instructional Swim and access to the Climbing Tower. A distinctive feature for our Junior campers is the Late Night program, offering opportunities for extended stay, special dinners, additional swim time, extra games, unique events, and a twilight campfire complete with S’mores.
Junior Athletics
Our Junior program, located in 08553, New Jersey, offers a diverse array of athletic activities on full-size fields. Weekly schedules include Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, and more. Additionally, juniors have the opportunity to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program, which are led by Athletic Specialists providing skill instruction and reinforcing these skills through games. Oak Crest counselors actively engage with campers, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful success opportunities.
At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where groups participate in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These activities and opponents rotate weekly, delivering a dynamic and competitive experience for our campers.
Creative Arts
Your child will immerse themselves in a wide range of artistic activities led by experienced art teachers in air-conditioned classrooms located in 08553, NJ. Our campers actively participate in Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more on a weekly basis.
In addition, all Junior Girl groups have the opportunity to showcase a dance routine in our annual event, Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This significant production takes place during the sixth week of camp at a local venue in the evening and features professional sound and lighting for a memorable experience.
Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of our camp experience. Located in 08553, NJ, our state-of-the-art aquatic facility is unmatched in quality. Our 3rd Grade Juniors benefit from a recently constructed, dedicated 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex designed exclusively for children aged 3-8. Meanwhile, our 4th-grade Juniors enjoy swimming in our expansive Gigantic Pool, featuring eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities offer shallow water areas, allowing us to introduce all swimmers to standing depth and gradually progress them to deeper water as their skills improve.
Each morning, Juniors participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with group counselors providing additional support. Our swim lessons are skill-based rather than age-based, ensuring a challenge for swimmers of all proficiency levels. We annually train and certify our instructors, adhering to American Red Cross standards while drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. In the afternoon, Juniors enjoy the opportunity for free swim in the pools.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
At Oak Crest in 08553, NJ, mastering the art of bicycle riding is considered a significant childhood milestone. Our campers have the perfect environment to achieve this goal thanks to our state-of-the-art Bicycle Village. This facility boasts a 1/4 mile training course, a cutting-edge pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Beyond fostering independence, cycling imparts valuable lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors provide personalized attention, helping novice riders build the confidence they need. As campers progress, they can participate in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, for which Oak Crest provides appropriately sized bikes and helmets.
Ropes Courses
Located in 08553, NJ, our Junior campers at Oak Crest have the opportunity to participate in all of our Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to become acquainted with belaying and tackle various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. Our Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and the thrilling Giant Swing. The High Ropes course extends the adventure with additional rock walls and mid-air challenges.
Prior to each season, we subject our ropes courses to rigorous safety inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who lead groups through the courses, conduct daily inspections to ensure ongoing safety.
Choice
Located in 08553, NJ, our campers have the opportunity to select activities during the Choice period. Each week, campers can choose from a constantly updated list of options. In addition to various athletic and creative choices, Junior campers can also opt to participate in our annual Drama Production or join a specific Dance routine. This annual event is known as Showcrest.
Social Development
