At Oak Crest in 08807, NJ, our Junior campers engage in a diverse array of activities, such as Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, Camper vs. Wild (pioneering), and more. Their schedule encompasses a wide range of athletic and creative pursuits, along with Instructional Swim and the Climbing Tower. A special offering for Juniors is our Late Night program, providing them the opportunity to extend their stay for a unique dinner, additional swim time, extra games, a special event, and a twilight campfire featuring S’mores.
Junior Athletics
In 08807, New Jersey, our Junior program offers a comprehensive array of athletic activities, conducted on full-size fields. Weekly schedules include Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, and more. In addition, juniors can partake in our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program, led by Athletic Specialists who provide skill instruction followed by skill-reinforcing games. Our Oak Crest counselors actively participate, working alongside specialists to create meaningful success opportunities for our campers.
At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where groups participate in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These activities and opponents rotate weekly, ensuring a dynamic and competitive experience for our campers.
Creative Arts
Your child will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a wide range of artistic activities led by experienced art teachers, all within the comfort of air-conditioned classrooms in 08807, NJ. Campers can explore diverse activities such as Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more on a weekly basis.
Additionally, our Junior Girl groups take center stage in our annual event, Showcrest. This grand Dance and Drama Production occurs during the sixth week of camp at a local venue in the evening and features professional sound and lighting, showcasing the talents and creativity of our campers.
Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is an integral part of the Oak Crest experience, with a state-of-the-art aquatic facility located in 08807, NJ. Our aquatic offerings are unmatched, catering to both 3rd and 4th-grade Juniors.
For 3rd Grade Juniors, we have a recently constructed, state-of-the-art 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex designed exclusively for children aged 3-8. Meanwhile, our 4th-grade Juniors enjoy swimming in our Gigantic Pool, featuring eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities provide shallow water, ensuring a safe learning environment where swimmers begin in standing depth and progress into deeper waters as their skills advance.
Each morning, Juniors engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with group counselors providing support. Our swim lessons are skill-based rather than age-based, ensuring a challenging experience for swimmers of all levels. Our instructors undergo annual training and certification, adhering not only to American Red Cross standards but also drawing upon more than 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoon, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in the pools.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
At Oak Crest in 08807, NJ, mastering the art of riding a bicycle is recognized as a significant childhood milestone. Our campers are provided with an ideal environment to achieve this goal through our newly established Bicycle Village. This facility boasts a 1/4 mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail.
Beyond the joy of independence, cycling imparts valuable life skills such as balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors offer personalized attention, helping novice riders gain the confidence they need. As campers progress, they can also participate in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, where Oak Crest provides appropriately sized bikes and helmets for a safe and exhilarating experience.
Ropes Courses
In 08807, NJ, our Junior campers at Oak Crest have the unique opportunity to explore all of our Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to become acquainted with belaying techniques and navigate various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. The Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. The High Ropes course presents additional rock walls and mid-air challenges for an added thrill.
Prior to each season, our ropes courses undergo rigorous safety inspections and certification, conducted by the same company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who expertly guide groups through the courses, perform daily inspections to ensure ongoing safety.
Choice
In 08807, NJ, during the Choice period, campers at Oak Crest have the freedom to select an activity for the week. Each week, campers can explore a new activity from a constantly updated list. In addition to a diverse range of athletic and creative choices, our Junior campers have the opportunity to participate in our annual Drama Production or engage in a specific Dance routine. This special event is known as Showcrest.
Social Development
