At Oak Crest in 08818, NJ, junior campers enjoy a dynamic array of activities such as Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, Camper vs. Wild (pioneering), and more. Their schedule includes a blend of athletic and creative pursuits, as well as Instructional Swim and the Climbing Tower. An exclusive benefit for Junior campers is the Late Night program, offering the opportunity to extend their stay for a special dinner, additional swim time, and extra games.
Junior Athletics
Our Junior program, located in 08818, New Jersey, offers a comprehensive range of athletic activities on full-size fields. Weekly schedules feature sports such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, and more. In addition to these offerings, juniors can also explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program. These sessions, led by Athletic Specialists, include skill instruction followed by games to reinforce the newly acquired skills. Oak Crest counselors actively participate, assisting specialists in creating meaningful opportunities for camper success.
At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where groups engage in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These activities and opponents rotate weekly, providing a dynamic and competitive experience for our campers.
Creative Arts
Your child will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a wide array of artistic activities led by experienced art teachers, all in air-conditioned classrooms located in 08818, NJ. Our campers engage in a weekly rotation of activities such as Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Camper vs. Wild adventures, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Additionally, our Junior Girl groups take center stage in our annual event, Showcrest—a grand Dance and Drama Production. This impressive production, held during the sixth week of camp at a local venue in the evening, features professional sound and lighting, allowing our young performers to showcase their talents and creativity.
Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of the Oak Crest experience, offering exceptional facilities in 08818, NJ. Our state-of-the-art aquatic facility is unmatched, catering to the needs of our 3rd Grade Juniors with a recently constructed, 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex designed exclusively for 3-8 year-olds. Meanwhile, our 4th grade Juniors enjoy swimming in our Gigantic Pool, featuring eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities offer shallow water, allowing us to start all swimmers in standing depth and progress them to deeper water as their skills improve.
Every morning, Juniors participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with group counselors providing assistance. Our swim lessons are skill-based rather than age-based, ensuring a challenge for swimmers of all levels. Our instructors receive annual training and certification, adhering not only to American Red Cross standards but also drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoon, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in the pools.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
At Oak Crest in 08818, NJ, mastering the art of riding a bicycle is considered a significant childhood milestone. Our camp provides an ideal environment for children to achieve this skill, thanks to our newly established Bicycle Village. This facility boasts a 1/4 mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. In addition to fostering independence, cycling imparts valuable lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors offer personalized attention, empowering novice riders to build the confidence they need. As campers progress, they have the opportunity to engage in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, which includes appropriately sized bikes and helmets provided by Oak Crest.
Ropes Courses
Located in 08818, NJ, our Junior campers at Oak Crest have the opportunity to experience all of our exhilarating Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to become familiar with belaying techniques and navigate various elements that resemble those found in our High Ropes Course. The Climbing Tower offers two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and an exciting Giant Swing. The High Ropes course presents even more rock walls and thrilling mid-air challenges.
Prior to each season, our ropes courses undergo rigorous safety inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who expertly guide groups through the courses, conduct daily inspections to ensure ongoing safety.
Choice
Located in 08818, NJ, our campers have the opportunity to select their preferred activities during the Choice period. Each week, campers can choose a new activity from an ever-evolving list of options. In addition to a wide range of athletic and creative choices, Junior campers can also elect to participate in our annual Drama Production or join in a dedicated Dance routine. This yearly event is known as Showcrest.
Social Development
