Junior Athletics

Weekly schedules are packed with sports such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, and more. Additionally, our juniors have the opportunity to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program, which are led by Athletic Specialists. These sessions include skill instruction followed by games that reinforce the newly acquired abilities. Oak Crest counselors actively participate, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful success opportunities for the campers.
At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where groups participate in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. The activities and opponents change weekly, ensuring a dynamic and competitive experience for our campers.
Creative Arts
Your child will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a wide array of artistic activities led by experienced art instructors, all within the comfort of air-conditioned classrooms in 08823, NJ. Our campers engage in activities such as Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more on a weekly basis.
Moreover, all Junior Girl groups participate in a special showcase as they perform a dance routine in our annual event, Showcrest. This grand Dance and Drama Production is a significant highlight, occurring during the sixth week of camp at a local venue in the evening, complete with professional sound and lighting.
Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a foundational element of the Oak Crest experience. Our aquatic facility in 08823, NJ, is state-of-the-art and unrivaled in quality. Our 3rd Grade Juniors have the privilege of using our recently constructed, 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex, designed exclusively for 3-8 year-olds. Meanwhile, our 4th grade Juniors enjoy swimming in our Gigantic Pool, which boasts eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities offer shallow water, allowing us to start all swimmers in standing depth and gradually progress them to deeper water as their skills improve.
Each morning, Juniors participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with group counselors providing additional support. Our swim lessons are skill-based rather than age-based, ensuring a challenge for swimmers of all proficiency levels. Our instructors undergo annual training and certification, adhering not only to American Red Cross standards but also drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in the pools.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
Mastering the art of bicycle riding is a significant childhood milestone, and at Oak Crest in 08823, NJ, children have the perfect environment to achieve this skill in our brand new Bicycle Village. This facility boasts a 1/4 mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Beyond instilling a sense of independence, cycling imparts valuable lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors provide individualized attention, helping novice riders build the confidence they need. As campers advance, they can join our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, where Oak Crest supplies appropriately sized bikes and helmets.
Ropes Courses
In 08823, NJ, our Juniors at Oak Crest have the exciting opportunity to experience all of our Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned at a height of 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to become acquainted with belaying and navigate various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. The Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. The High Ropes course offers additional rock walls and mid-air challenges.
Prior to each season, our ropes courses undergo meticulous safety inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide groups through the courses, conduct daily inspections to ensure ongoing safety.
Choice
In 08823, NJ, during the Choice period, our campers at Oak Crest have the freedom to select an activity for the week. Each week, campers can explore a new activity from a continuously updated list of options. In addition to a diverse range of athletic and creative choices, Junior campers also have the opportunity to participate in our annual Drama Production or join a specific Dance routine. This special annual event is known as Showcrest.
Social Development
