Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders) Summer Camp near 08836
At Oak Crest in 08836, NJ, our junior campers embark on an engaging journey filled with diverse activities such as Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, Camper vs. Wild (pioneering), and more. Their daily schedule is packed with athletic and creative pursuits, including Instructional Swim and the Climbing Tower. A distinctive benefit for our junior campers is the Late Night program, providing them with the opportunity to extend their day for a special dinner, additional swim time, extra games, unique events, and a twilight campfire complete with S’mores.
Junior Athletics
Our Junior program in 08836, New Jersey, offers an array of athletic activities on full-size fields. Each week, our campers enjoy engaging in Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, and more. Additionally, juniors have the opportunity to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program. These sessions, led by Athletic Specialists, include skill instruction and games designed to reinforce newly acquired skills. Our Oak Crest counselors actively participate, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful success opportunities for campers.
At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where groups partake in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. Weekly rotations of activities and opponents keep the experience dynamic and competitive for our campers.
Creative Arts
Your child will immerse themselves in a wide variety of artistic activities led by experienced art instructors within air-conditioned classrooms in 08836, NJ. Campers partake in weekly sessions of Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
In addition to these creative endeavors, all Junior Girl groups have the opportunity to showcase their talents in a dance routine during our annual event, Showcrest. This grand Dance and Drama Production occurs during the sixth week of camp at a local venue in the evening, complete with professional sound and lighting for an unforgettable experience.
Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of the Oak Crest experience, and our aquatic facility in 08836, NJ, is truly exceptional. Our 3rd Grade Juniors enjoy the recently constructed, state-of-the-art 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex designed exclusively for 3-8 year-olds. Meanwhile, our 4th-grade Juniors have access to our Gigantic Pool, featuring eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities offer shallow water, allowing us to introduce swimmers to standing depth and gradually progress them into deeper waters as their skills improve.
Every morning, Juniors participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with group counselors providing additional support. These swim lessons are tailored to individual skill levels rather than age, ensuring a challenging experience for swimmers of all abilities. Our instructors undergo annual training and certification, adhering not only to American Red Cross standards but also drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoon, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in the pools.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
At Oak Crest in 08836, NJ, mastering the art of riding a bicycle is a significant childhood milestone, and we offer the perfect environment for children to achieve this skill in our brand-new Bicycle Village. This state-of-the-art facility features a 1/4 mile training course, a cutting-edge pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Beyond fostering independence, learning to ride a bike imparts valuable lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors provide personalized attention, helping novice riders build the confidence they need to succeed. As campers advance, they have the opportunity to participate in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, with appropriately sized bikes and helmets provided by Oak Crest.
Ropes Courses
In 08836, NJ, our Junior campers have the unique opportunity to participate in all of Oak Crest’s Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned at a height of 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to become acquainted with belaying techniques and navigate various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. Our Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. The High Ropes course offers even more rock walls and mid-air challenges.
Before each season, our ropes courses undergo rigorous safety inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who lead groups through the courses, conduct daily inspections to ensure ongoing safety measures are upheld.
Choice
In 08836, NJ, during the Choice period, campers enjoy the flexibility of selecting their preferred activity for the week. Every week, campers have the opportunity to explore a new activity from a constantly updated list of options. In addition to a wide range of athletic and creative choices, Junior campers can also opt to participate in our annual Drama Production or engage in a specific Dance routine. This annual extravaganza is known as Showcrest.
Social Development
