Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders) Summer Camp near 08844
At Oak Crest in 08844, NJ, our Junior campers engage in a wide array of activities, such as Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, Camper vs. Wild (pioneering), and more. Their schedule is filled with a diverse mix of athletic and creative pursuits, including Instructional Swim and the Climbing Tower. An exclusive benefit for Juniors is our Late Night program, which allows them to prolong their camp experience with a special dinner, additional swim time, extra games, unique events, and a twilight campfire complete with S’mores.
Junior Athletics
Our Junior program in 08844, New Jersey, offers an extensive array of athletic activities conducted on full-size fields. Our weekly schedules include Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, and more. Additionally, juniors have the opportunity to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program, both of which are led by Athletic Specialists. These sessions feature skill instruction followed by games aimed at reinforcing the newly acquired skills. Our Oak Crest counselors actively participate, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful success opportunities for our campers.
At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where groups participate in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These activities and opponents are rotated on a weekly basis, ensuring a dynamic and competitive experience for our campers.
Creative Arts
In 08844, NJ, your child will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a diverse range of artistic activities led by experienced art teachers. These engaging activities are conducted in air-conditioned classrooms. Campers can participate in a wide array of activities, including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more on a weekly basis.
In addition to these creative endeavors, all Junior Girl groups have the chance to showcase a dance routine in our annual event, Showcrest. This grand Dance and Drama Production is a significant highlight and occurs during the sixth week of camp at a local venue in the evening. The event features professional sound and lighting, creating a memorable experience for both participants and spectators alike.
Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of the Oak Crest experience. Located in 08844, NJ, our state-of-the-art aquatic facility is unmatched. For 3rd Grade Juniors, we have a newly constructed 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex tailored exclusively for 3-8 year-olds. Meanwhile, 4th grade Juniors enjoy swimming in our Gigantic Pool, which boasts eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities feature shallow water areas, allowing us to start all swimmers in standing depth and gradually progress them into deeper water as their skills develop.
Each morning, Juniors participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with group counselors providing additional support. Our swim lessons are skill-based rather than age-based, ensuring a challenge for swimmers of all levels. We annually train and certify our instructors, adhering not only to American Red Cross standards but also drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoon, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in the pools.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
At Oak Crest in 08844, NJ, mastering the art of riding a bicycle is seen as a significant childhood milestone, and our camp provides an ideal setting for achieving this goal with our brand-new Bicycle Village. This facility boasts a 1/4 mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Learning to ride a bike not only fosters independence but also imparts valuable lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors provide personalized attention, helping novice riders build the confidence they need. As campers progress, they have the opportunity to participate in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, where Oak Crest supplies appropriately sized bikes and helmets.
Ropes Courses
In 08844, NJ, our Junior campers have the unique opportunity to participate in all of the Oak Crest Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to become acquainted with belaying techniques and navigate various elements similar to those encountered in our High Ropes Course. Our Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and the exhilarating Giant Swing, while the High Ropes Course offers additional rock walls and mid-air challenges.
To ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction before each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide groups through the courses, conduct daily inspections to maintain ongoing safety standards.
Choice
In 08844, NJ, during the Choice period, campers enjoy the freedom to select their preferred activity for the week. Every week, campers can explore a new activity from a continuously updated list. In addition to a diverse range of athletic and creative options, Junior campers also have the opportunity to participate in our annual Drama Production or join a specific Dance routine. This annual event is known as Showcrest.
Social Development
