Junior Athletics

Creative Arts

In addition, all Junior Girl groups have the chance to showcase their talents in a special annual event called ‘Showcrest.’ This grand Dance and Drama Production takes place during the sixth week of camp at a local venue in the evening, complete with professional sound and lighting to create a memorable experience for both performers and the audience.
Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of our camp experience, and our aquatic facilities in 08846, NJ, are second to none. Our 3rd Grade Juniors enjoy the benefits of our recently constructed, state-of-the-art 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex exclusively designed for children aged 3 to 8. Meanwhile, our 4th grade Juniors have the privilege of swimming in our Gigantic Pool, which boasts eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities offer shallow water, allowing us to start all swimmers in a standing depth and progress them into deeper waters as their skills improve.
Each morning, our Juniors participate in a 40-minute swim lesson, led by certified swim instructors, with group counselors providing additional support. Our swim lessons focus on skill development rather than age, ensuring that swimmers of all levels are appropriately challenged. Our instructors receive annual training and certification, adhering not only to American Red Cross standards but also benefiting from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoon, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in our pools, further enhancing their aquatic experience.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
At Oak Crest in 08846, NJ, mastering the art of riding a bicycle is a significant childhood milestone, and our camp provides the perfect environment for achieving this goal, thanks to our brand-new Bicycle Village. This facility encompasses a 1/4 mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Beyond promoting independence, cycling imparts crucial lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of fine motor skills. Our experienced instructors offer personalized attention, allowing novice riders to gain the confidence they need. As campers progress, they have the opportunity to participate in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, where Oak Crest provides appropriately sized bikes and helmets to support their growth and development.
Ropes Courses
In 08846, NJ, our Junior campers at Oak Crest have the unique opportunity to explore all of our Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to become acquainted with belaying techniques and navigate various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. The Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and the thrilling Giant Swing. For those seeking more challenges, the High Ropes course offers additional rock walls and mid-air obstacles.
To prioritize safety, our ropes courses undergo rigorous safety inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction before each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who expertly guide groups through the courses, perform daily inspections to ensure ongoing safety measures are in place.
Choice
In 08846, NJ, during the Choice period at Oak Crest, campers enjoy the freedom to select their activities for the week. Every week, campers can choose from a regularly refreshed list of options, including a diverse range of athletic and creative activities. Juniors also have the opportunity to participate in our annual Drama Production or join a specific Dance routine, both of which culminate in our highly anticipated annual event known as Showcrest.
Social Development
