A distinctive offering for junior campers is the Late Night program, which extends their experience with special dinners, extra swim time, additional games, unique events, and an evening campfire featuring delicious S’mores.
Junior Athletics
Our Junior program, located in 08863, New Jersey, offers a diverse range of athletic activities conducted on full-size fields. Our weekly schedules feature Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, and more. Additionally, juniors have the opportunity to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program, led by Athletic Specialists who provide skill instruction followed by games to reinforce the newly acquired skills. Our Oak Crest counselors actively participate, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for camper success.
At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where groups engage in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These activities and opponents rotate weekly, providing a dynamic and competitive experience for our campers.
Creative Arts
Your child will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a wide range of artistic activities led by experienced art teachers in air-conditioned classrooms in 08863, NJ. Campers engage in weekly sessions of Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
In addition, all Junior Girl groups have the chance to showcase their talents in a dance routine during our annual event, Showcrest. This grand Dance and Drama Production is a significant highlight of our camp and takes place in the sixth week at a local venue in the evening. It features professional sound and lighting, adding to the excitement and prestige of the event.
Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of the Oak Crest experience, with our state-of-the-art aquatic facility located in 08863, NJ, setting a new standard. Our 3rd Grade Juniors benefit from a recently constructed, 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex designed exclusively for 3-8 year-olds. Meanwhile, our 4th-grade Juniors enjoy swimming in our Gigantic Pool, featuring eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities offer shallow water, ensuring that we can accommodate swimmers of varying skill levels, starting from standing depth and progressing as their abilities improve.
Each morning, our Juniors engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with group counselors providing additional support. Our swim lessons are skill-based rather than age-based, ensuring that swimmers at all levels find a challenge. We annually train and certify our instructors, adhering not only to American Red Cross standards but also drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoon, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in the pools.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
At Oak Crest in 08863, NJ, mastering the art of riding a bicycle is considered a significant childhood milestone, and we offer the perfect environment for children to achieve this goal in our brand new Bicycle Village. This facility boasts a 1/4 mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Beyond instilling independence, cycling also imparts essential lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and motor skill development. Our experienced instructors provide personalized attention, helping novice riders build the confidence they need. As campers progress, they can engage in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, with Oak Crest providing appropriately sized bikes and helmets for their continued growth.
Ropes Courses
In 08863, NJ, Oak Crest offers juniors the opportunity to experience all of our Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to become acquainted with belaying techniques and navigate various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. Our Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and the thrilling Giant Swing. The High Ropes course presents additional rock walls and mid-air challenges.
Before each season, our ropes courses undergo rigorous safety inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide groups through the courses, conduct daily inspections to ensure continuous safety.
Choice
In 08863, NJ, during the Choice period, campers have the flexibility to select an activity for the week. Each week, campers can choose a new activity from an ever-evolving list of options. In addition to a wide range of athletic and creative choices, Junior campers also have the opportunity to participate in our annual Drama Production or join a specific Dance routine. This yearly event is known as Showcrest.
