At Oak Crest in 08873, NJ, junior campers embark on a dynamic journey of exploration. Activities such as Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, Camper vs. Wild (pioneering), and more are woven into their daily schedule. In addition to various athletic and creative pursuits, their days include Instructional Swim and the Climbing Tower experience. A distinctive advantage for our junior campers is the Late Night program, allowing them to extend their stay for a special dinner, extra swim time, additional games, a unique event, and a twilight campfire featuring delicious S’mores.
Junior Athletics
Our Junior program, situated in 08873, New Jersey, boasts an extensive array of athletic activities played on full-size fields. Weekly schedules feature engaging sports like Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, and more. In addition, juniors have the opportunity to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program, both led by Athletic Specialists who provide skill instruction followed by games to reinforce newly acquired abilities. Oak Crest counselors actively participate, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful success opportunities for our campers.
At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where groups partake in competitive matches of Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These activities and opponents rotate weekly, ensuring a dynamic and spirited experience for our campers.
Creative Arts
Your child will enjoy a wide range of artistic activities led by experienced art teachers in air-conditioned classrooms within 08873, NJ. Our campers engage in weekly sessions of Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Camper vs. Wild adventures, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Moreover, all Junior Girl groups have the opportunity to present a dance routine in our annual event, Showcrest—a spectacular Dance and Drama Production. Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is an integral part of the Oak Crest experience, and our aquatic facilities in 08873, NJ, are second to none. The 3rd Grade Juniors have access to our recently constructed, state-of-the-art 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex designed exclusively for children aged 3-8. Meanwhile, the 4th grade Juniors enjoy swimming in our Gigantic Pool, featuring eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities provide shallow water, allowing us to start all swimmers in standing depth and gradually progress them into deeper waters as their skills improve.
Every morning, our Juniors engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with group counselors providing additional support. Our swim lessons are skill-based rather than age-based, ensuring that swimmers of all levels are appropriately challenged. Our instructors receive annual training and certification, adhering to American Red Cross standards and benefiting from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, Juniors have the opportunity to enjoy free swim in our pools.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
At Oak Crest in 08873, NJ, we recognize that mastering the art of bicycle riding is a significant childhood milestone. Our newly established Bicycle Village offers the perfect environment for children to achieve this feat. This facility boasts a 1/4 mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Beyond fostering independence, cycling imparts crucial lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors provide individualized attention, empowering novice riders to build their confidence. As campers progress, they have the opportunity to engage in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, complete with appropriately sized bikes and helmets provided by Oak Crest.
Ropes Courses
Located in 08873, NJ, our Junior campers at Oak Crest have the unique opportunity to participate in all of our Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to become acquainted with belaying techniques and navigate various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. The Climbing Tower features two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. The High Ropes course offers additional rock walls and challenging mid-air obstacles.
Prior to each season, our ropes courses undergo rigorous safety inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide groups through these courses, perform daily inspections to ensure ongoing safety and security.
Choice
Located in 08873, NJ, our campers have the opportunity to exercise their choice during the Choice period. Each week, campers can select a new activity from a constantly updated list of options. In addition to a diverse array of athletic and creative choices, Junior campers can also elect to participate in our annual Drama Production or join a specific Dance routine. This yearly event is known as Showcrest.
Social Development
