Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders) Summer Camp near 08899
At Oak Crest in 08899, NJ, our junior campers engage in a diverse array of activities, such as archery, mountain biking, lacrosse, high ropes, BMX, skatepark, pioneering (Camper vs. Wild), and more. Their well-rounded schedule includes both athletic and creative pursuits, as well as instructional swim and access to the climbing tower. An exclusive perk for our junior campers is the Late Night program, which extends their stay for a special dinner, extra swim time, additional games, a unique event, and a twilight campfire complete with S’mores.
Junior Athletics
Our Junior program in 08899, New Jersey, offers an extensive array of athletic activities held on full-size fields. Weekly schedules feature sports such as soccer, football, tennis, lacrosse, archery, basketball, hockey, and more. In addition, our juniors have the opportunity to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program, led by dedicated Athletic Specialists who provide skill instruction followed by engaging games to reinforce the newly acquired abilities. Oak Crest counselors actively participate, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful success opportunities for campers.
At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where groups partake in soccer, handball, football, and dodgeball. These activities and opponents rotate weekly, delivering a dynamic and competitive experience for our campers.
Creative Arts
Your child will enjoy a wide array of artistic activities led by experienced art teachers in air-conditioned classrooms in 08899, NJ. Our campers actively participate in a variety of weekly activities, including ceramics, music, mad science, cooking, drama, nature exploration, Camper vs. Wild adventures, dance, digital photography, jewelry making, computers, and more.
In addition, all Junior Girl groups have the opportunity to showcase their talents in a dance routine during our annual event, Showcrest. This grand Dance and Drama Production is a significant highlight of our program and takes place during the sixth week of camp at a local venue in the evening, complete with professional sound and lighting.
Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is an integral part of the Oak Crest experience, offering a state-of-the-art aquatic facility in 08899, NJ. Our 3rd Grade Juniors have exclusive access to our recently constructed 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex designed specifically for 3-8 year-olds. Meanwhile, the 4th grade Juniors enjoy swimming in our Gigantic Pool, featuring eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities provide shallow water, allowing us to begin all swimmers in standing depth and gradually progress them into deeper water as their skills improve.
Each morning, our Juniors participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with group counselors providing additional support. Our swim lessons are skill-based rather than age-based, ensuring a challenging experience for swimmers of all levels. We annually train and certify our instructors, incorporating not only American Red Cross standards but also over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoon, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in the pools.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
At Oak Crest in 08899, NJ, mastering the art of bicycle riding is a significant childhood milestone, and we offer the perfect setting for children to achieve this feat at our brand new Bicycle Village. This facility boasts a 1/4-mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Beyond fostering independence, cycling imparts valuable lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors provide personalized attention, allowing novice riders to build the confidence they need. As campers progress, they have the opportunity to participate in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, for which Oak Crest provides appropriately sized bikes and helmets.
Ropes Courses
In 08899, NJ, our Juniors at Oak Crest have the exciting opportunity to participate in all of our Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to become familiar with belaying and navigate various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. The Climbing Tower features two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. The High Ropes course offers additional rock walls and challenging mid-air elements.
To prioritize safety, our ropes courses undergo thorough safety inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction before each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide groups through the courses, conduct daily inspections to ensure the ongoing safety of our campers.
Choice
In 08899, NJ, our campers at Oak Crest enjoy a Choice period where they can select an activity for the week. Every week, campers have the opportunity to choose a new activity from a regularly updated list. In addition to a diverse range of athletic and creative options, our Juniors can also opt to participate in our annual Drama Production or be part of a specific Dance routine. This eagerly anticipated event is known as Showcrest.
Social Development
