At Oak Crest in 08989, NJ, junior campers engage in a dynamic array of activities, including archery, mountain biking, lacrosse, high ropes, BMX, skatepark, Camper vs. Wild pioneering adventures, and more. Their schedule offers a mix of athletic and creative pursuits, featuring instructional swim and the climbing tower. A distinctive benefit for junior campers is the Late Night program, which allows them to extend their experience with a special dinner, additional swim time, extra games, a unique event, and a twilight campfire complete with S’mores.
Junior Athletics

Weekly schedules feature sports such as soccer, football, tennis, lacrosse, archery, basketball, hockey, and more. Juniors also have the opportunity to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program, led by Athletic Specialists who provide skill instruction followed by skill-reinforcing games. Oak Crest counselors actively engage, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful success opportunities for campers.
At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where groups participate in soccer, handball, football, and dodgeball. These activities and opponents rotate weekly, ensuring a dynamic and competitive experience for our campers.
Creative Arts
Located in 08989, NJ, our program offers a wide array of artistic activities for your child, led by experienced art teachers in air-conditioned classrooms. Campers can immerse themselves in activities such as ceramics, music, mad science, cooking, drama, nature exploration, Camper vs. Wild adventures, dance, digital photography, jewelry making, computer activities, and more on a weekly basis.
Additionally, all Junior Girl groups have the opportunity to showcase a dance routine in our annual event, Showcrest. This grand Dance and Drama Production takes place during the sixth week of camp at a local venue in the evening and features professional sound and lighting, providing a memorable and significant experience for our campers.
Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of our camp experience, set in our state-of-the-art aquatic facility located in 08989, NJ. Our facilities are unrivaled, with 3rd Grade Juniors benefiting from our recently constructed 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex, exclusively tailored for 3-8 year-olds. Meanwhile, 4th Grade Juniors enjoy swimming in our Gigantic Pool, featuring eight 25-meter lanes. Both pools provide shallow water for beginners, allowing us to start all swimmers in standing depth and progress them into deeper water as their skills improve.
Each morning, Juniors engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with group counselors providing support. Our swim lessons are skill-based, catering to swimmers of all levels rather than just age-based categories, ensuring a challenging experience for everyone. Our instructors undergo annual training and certification, adhering to American Red Cross standards and drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoon, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in the pools.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
At Oak Crest in 08989, NJ, mastering the art of riding a bicycle is considered a significant childhood milestone, and we provide an ideal setting for children to achieve this goal in our brand new Bicycle Village. This facility boasts a 1/4 mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Beyond fostering independence, cycling imparts valuable lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors offer personalized attention, allowing novice riders to build the confidence they need. As campers progress, they have the opportunity to participate in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, with Oak Crest providing appropriately sized bikes and helmets.
Ropes Courses
In 08989, NJ, our Junior campers have the unique opportunity to participate in all of Oak Crest’s Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to become acquainted with belaying and navigate various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. Our Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. The High Ropes course offers even more rock walls and mid-air challenges.
Before each season, our ropes courses undergo rigorous safety inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction. In addition, our certified ropes instructors, who guide groups through the courses, conduct daily inspections to ensure ongoing safety.
Choice
In 08989, NJ, during the Choice period, campers have the exciting opportunity to select their preferred activity for the week. Each week, campers can choose from a constantly updated list of options. In addition to a wide range of athletic and creative activities, Junior campers also have the chance to participate in our annual Drama Production or join in a specific Dance routine. This much-anticipated event is known as Showcrest.
Social Development
