Their daily schedule incorporates a mix of athletic and creative endeavors, including Instructional Swim and the Climbing Tower. One standout feature for Juniors is our Late Night program, offering them the opportunity to extend their stay for an exclusive dinner, additional swim time, extra games, a special event, and a twilight campfire complete with S’mores.
Our Junior program, located in Bridgewater, New Jersey, offers a diverse range of full-size athletic activities. Weekly schedules include Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, and more. In addition, juniors have the opportunity to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program. These sessions, led by Athletic Specialists, provide skill instruction followed by games to reinforce the newly acquired abilities. Oak Crest counselors actively engage in these sessions, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for camper success.
At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, featuring activities such as Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. Weekly rotations of activities and opponents ensure a dynamic and competitive experience for our campers.
Your child will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of artistic activities led by experienced art teachers in air-conditioned classrooms located in Bridgewater, NJ. Our campers engage in diverse activities, including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more on a weekly basis.
Additionally, all Junior Girl groups take center stage in our annual event, Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This significant production occurs during the sixth week of camp at a local venue in the evening, featuring professional sound and lighting for a memorable experience.
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of the Oak Crest experience. Our state-of-the-art aquatic facility in Bridgewater, NJ, sets the standard in aquatic education. Specifically designed for 3rd Grade Juniors, our recently constructed 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex provides an exclusive and safe environment for young swimmers aged 3-8. For 4th-grade Juniors, we offer the Gigantic Pool, equipped with eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities feature shallow water areas, ensuring that swimmers start in standing depth and progress to deeper water as their skills advance.
Every morning, Juniors engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with additional support from group counselors. Our swim lessons are skill-based, accommodating swimmers of all levels rather than relying on age-based criteria, ensuring a challenging experience for everyone. Our instructors undergo annual training and certification, adhering to American Red Cross standards and drawing upon more than 25 years of practical expertise in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in the pools.
Mastering the art of bicycle riding is a significant childhood milestone, and at Oak Crest in Bridgewater, NJ, children have the perfect environment to achieve this skill – the brand new Bicycle Village. This facility boasts a 1/4 mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Beyond instilling a sense of independence, cycling imparts invaluable lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and motor skill development. Our experienced instructors offer personalized attention, helping novice riders build the confidence they need. As campers advance, they can engage in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, which provides appropriately sized bikes and helmets for their continued progress.
In Bridgewater, NJ, Junior campers at Oak Crest have the unique opportunity to explore all of our Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to become acquainted with belaying and navigate various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. The Climbing Tower features two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. Our High Ropes Course offers additional rock walls and challenging mid-air obstacles.
Prior to each season, our ropes courses undergo rigorous safety inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide groups through the courses, conduct daily inspections to ensure continuous safety.
In Bridgewater, NJ, during the Choice period, campers enjoy the flexibility of selecting their preferred activity for the week. Each week, campers can explore a new activity from a regularly updated list of options. In addition to a diverse range of athletic and creative choices, Junior campers also have the opportunity to participate in our annual Drama Production or become a part of a specific Dance routine. This much-anticipated event is known as Showcrest.
