Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders) Summer Camp near East Brunswick
At Oak Crest in East Brunswick, NJ, junior campers engage in a diverse array of activities such as Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, Camper vs. Wild (pioneering), and more. Their schedule includes a mix of athletic and creative pursuits, along with Instructional Swim and the Climbing Tower. A distinctive advantage for junior campers is the Late Night program, which provides an opportunity to extend their stay for a special dinner, extra swim time, additional games, a unique event, and a twilight campfire complete with S’mores.
Junior Athletics
Our Junior program, located in East Brunswick, New Jersey, offers a diverse range of athletic activities conducted on full-size fields. Weekly schedules are packed with sports such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, and more. In addition, juniors have the opportunity to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program, led by Athletic Specialists who provide skill instruction and organize games to reinforce those newly acquired abilities. Oak Crest counselors actively engage, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful success opportunities for our campers.
At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, featuring Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These activities and opponents are rotated weekly, ensuring a dynamic and competitive experience for our campers.
Creative Arts
Your child will immerse themselves in a wide array of artistic activities, led by experienced art teachers, within our air-conditioned classrooms in East Brunswick, NJ. Our campers actively participate in activities such as Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more on a weekly basis.
In addition, all Junior Girl groups have the opportunity to showcase their talents in a dance routine during our annual event, Showcrest. This grand Dance and Drama Production takes place in the sixth week of camp at a local venue in the evening, complete with professional sound and lighting for an unforgettable experience.
Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is an essential element of the Oak Crest experience, and we take pride in our state-of-the-art aquatic facility located in East Brunswick, NJ. Our commitment to providing outstanding swim instruction is exemplified by two distinct facilities catering to different age groups.
For 3rd Grade Juniors, we have a recently constructed 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex, exclusively tailored for 3-8 year-olds. Meanwhile, 4th Grade Juniors have the privilege of swimming in our Gigantic Pool, equipped with eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities offer shallow water, allowing us to start all swimmers in standing depth and gradually progress them into deeper water as their skills improve.
Each morning, our Juniors engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with group counselors providing additional support. Our approach to swim lessons is skill-based rather than age-based, ensuring a challenging and rewarding experience for swimmers at all proficiency levels. Our instructors receive annual training and certification, adhering not only to American Red Cross standards but also benefiting from over 25 years of practical expertise in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in the pools.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
Mastering the art of bicycling has become a significant childhood milestone, and at Oak Crest in East Brunswick, NJ, children have the perfect environment to achieve this goal with our brand new Bicycle Village. This facility boasts a 1/4-mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Beyond fostering independence, cycling imparts valuable lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors offer individualized attention, allowing novice riders to gain the confidence they need. As campers advance, they can take part in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, complete with appropriately sized bikes and helmets provided by Oak Crest.
Ropes Courses
In East Brunswick, NJ, our Junior campers at Oak Crest enjoy the opportunity to partake in all of our Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, situated 5 feet above the ground, provides campers with the chance to familiarize themselves with belaying techniques and navigate various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. The Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. The High Ropes course offers additional rock walls and challenging mid-air obstacles.
Prior to each season, we subject our ropes courses to thorough safety inspections and certification, conducted by the same company responsible for their construction. Moreover, our certified ropes instructors, who lead groups through the courses, perform daily inspections to ensure ongoing safety for all participants.
Choice
Located in East Brunswick, NJ, our campers enjoy the Choice period where they have the opportunity to select an activity for the week. Every week, campers can choose from a regularly updated list of options, which includes a diverse range of athletic and creative activities. Additionally, Junior campers can opt to participate in our annual Drama Production or be a part of a specific Dance routine known as Showcrest, making it an exciting part of their Oak Crest experience.
Social Development
At our camp in East Brunswick, NJ, campers actively collaborate, communicate, and support one another within their designated groups throughout the day.
