Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders) Summer Camp near Flemington
At Oak Crest in Flemington, NJ, our junior campers engage in a diverse array of activities, such as Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, Camper vs. Wild (pioneering), and more. Their daily schedule combines athletic and creative endeavors, along with Instructional Swim and the Climbing Tower experience. An exclusive benefit for junior campers is the Late Night program, enabling them to extend their stay for a distinctive dinner, additional swim sessions, extra games, a special event, and a twilight campfire featuring S’mores.
Junior Athletics
In Flemington, New Jersey, our Junior program offers an extensive array of athletic activities on full-size fields. Weekly schedules are designed to encompass a wide range of sports including Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, and more. In addition to these options, juniors have the opportunity to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program. These specialized sessions, led by Athletic Specialists, combine skill instruction with games aimed at reinforcing the newly acquired abilities. Our Oak Crest counselors actively participate, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for camper success.
At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where campers engage in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These activities and opponents rotate on a weekly basis, offering a dynamic and competitive experience that keeps our campers engaged and enthusiastic.
Creative Arts
Your child will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a variety of artistic activities led by experienced art teachers within air-conditioned classrooms in Flemington, NJ. Our campers actively engage in a wide spectrum of activities including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Camper vs. Wild adventures, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more on a weekly basis.
In addition, all Junior Girl groups have the chance to showcase their talents in a dance routine during our annual event, Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This significant production occurs during the sixth week of camp at a local venue in the evening and features professional sound and lighting for a truly remarkable experience.
Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of the Oak Crest experience, boasting a state-of-the-art aquatic facility in Flemington, NJ. Our aquatic facilities are truly exceptional: 3rd Grade Juniors have access to a recently constructed, 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex, exclusively tailored for 3-8 year-olds, while 4th grade Juniors swim in our Gigantic Pool, featuring eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities offer shallow water, allowing us to start all swimmers in standing depth and gradually progress them into deeper waters as their skills advance.
Each morning, our Juniors participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with group counselors providing additional support. Our approach to swim lessons is skill-based rather than age-based, ensuring that all swimmers, regardless of their level, are appropriately challenged. We annually train and certify our instructors, drawing not only from American Red Cross standards but also from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoon, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in the pools, further enhancing their water skills and enjoyment.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
Mastering the art of bicycle riding is a significant childhood milestone, and at Oak Crest in Flemington, NJ, we offer an ideal environment for children to achieve this skill with our newly established Bicycle Village. This facility boasts a 1/4 mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. In addition to fostering independence, cycling imparts valuable lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors provide personalized attention, empowering novice riders to build the confidence they need. As campers progress, they have the opportunity to participate in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, complete with appropriately sized bikes and helmets provided by Oak Crest.
Ropes Courses
In Flemington, NJ, our Junior campers have the opportunity to participate in all of the Oak Crest Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to become acquainted with belaying and navigate various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. Our Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard zip line, and the thrilling Giant Swing. The High Ropes course presents additional rock walls and mid-air challenges.
Prior to each season, our ropes courses undergo rigorous safety inspections and certification, conducted by the same company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide groups through the courses, conduct daily inspections to ensure the ongoing safety of our campers.
Choice
In Flemington, NJ, during the Choice period, campers have the flexibility to select an activity for the week from a regularly refreshed list of options. Each week, campers can explore a new activity of their choice. In addition to a wide range of athletic and creative options, Junior campers also have the opportunity to participate in our annual Drama Production or be a part of a specific Dance routine. This yearly event is known as Showcrest.
Social Development
