Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders) Summer Camp near Kendall Park
At Oak Crest in Kendall Park, NJ, junior campers embark on a diverse array of activities, spanning Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, Camper vs. Wild (pioneering), and more. Their schedule is rich with athletic and creative endeavors, including Instructional Swim and the Climbing Tower. Juniors also enjoy an exclusive perk with the Late Night program, enabling them to extend their stay for a special dinner, additional swim time, extra games, a unique event, and a twilight campfire complete with delicious S’mores.
Junior Athletics
Our Junior program, situated in Kendall Park, New Jersey, boasts a wide array of athletic activities set on full-size fields. Each week, our campers enjoy engaging in sports such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, and more. Furthermore, juniors have the opportunity to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program, led by specialized athletic instructors who provide skill instruction followed by games to reinforce these newfound abilities. Our Oak Crest counselors actively participate, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful success opportunities for our campers.
At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where groups participate in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These activities and opponents rotate on a weekly basis, ensuring a dynamic and competitive experience for our young campers.
Creative Arts
Your child will immerse themselves in a rich tapestry of artistic activities led by seasoned art instructors, all within climate-controlled classrooms in Kendall Park, NJ. Our campers eagerly participate in a diverse range of disciplines, including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more on a weekly basis.
Moreover, our Junior Girl groups have the exciting opportunity to showcase their talents in a dance routine during our annual event, Showcrest. This grand Dance and Drama Production, held during the sixth week of camp, unfolds at a local venue in the evening and features professional sound and lighting to provide a memorable experience for all involved.
Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is an integral part of the Oak Crest experience, made possible by our state-of-the-art aquatic facility located in Kendall Park, NJ. Our commitment to providing an exceptional aquatic education is evident through our facilities. Third Grade Juniors benefit from our recently constructed, exclusive 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex designed specifically for 3-8 year-olds, while fourth-grade Juniors enjoy the Gigantic Pool, featuring eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities feature shallow water areas, allowing us to start all swimmers in standing depth and gradually progress them into deeper waters as their skills improve.
Each morning, our Juniors participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with additional support from group counselors. Our swim lessons are skill-based rather than age-based, ensuring that swimmers of all levels are appropriately challenged. We place a strong emphasis on the training and certification of our instructors, drawing not only from American Red Cross standards but also from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoon, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in our pools.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
Mastering the art of bicycle riding is a significant childhood milestone, and at Oak Crest in Kendall Park, NJ, children are provided with the perfect environment to achieve this goal—the all-new Bicycle Village. This cutting-edge facility boasts a 1/4-mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Beyond fostering independence, cycling imparts valuable lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors offer personalized attention, empowering novice riders to gain the confidence they need. As campers advance, they can partake in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, for which Oak Crest provides appropriately sized bikes and helmets.
Ropes Courses
In Kendall Park, NJ, our Junior campers at Oak Crest have the exciting opportunity to explore all of our Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, provides campers with a chance to familiarize themselves with belaying techniques and navigate various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. The Climbing Tower features two distinct rock walls, a thrilling 200-yard zip line, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. The High Ropes Course offers even more rock walls and challenging mid-air obstacles.
Prior to each season, our ropes courses undergo meticulous safety inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction. Moreover, our certified ropes instructors, who expertly guide groups through the courses, conduct daily inspections to ensure ongoing safety measures are in place.
Choice
In Kendall Park, NJ, our campers enjoy the Choice period, where they have the freedom to select an activity for the week. Each week, campers can explore a new activity from a constantly refreshed list of options. In addition to a wide array of athletic and creative choices, our Junior campers also have the opportunity to participate in our annual Drama Production or join a specific Dance routine. This much-anticipated event is known as Showcrest.
Social Development
