Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders) Summer Camp near Middlesex

Junior campers at Oak Crest in Middlesex, NJ, engage in a diverse array of activities, such as archery, mountain biking, lacrosse, high ropes, BMX, skatepark, pioneering (Camper vs. Wild), and more. Their schedule is packed with athletic and creative endeavors, including instructional swim and the climbing tower. A distinctive benefit for Juniors is the Late Night program, granting them the opportunity to prolong their stay with a special dinner, extra swim time, additional games, a unique event, and a twilight campfire featuring delicious S’mores.

Junior Athletics

Our Junior program, based in Middlesex, New Jersey, offers a comprehensive array of athletic activities conducted on full-size fields. Weekly schedules encompass sports like soccer, football, tennis, lacrosse, archery, basketball, hockey, and more. Additionally, juniors have the opportunity to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program, led by experienced Athletic Specialists who provide skill instruction followed by skill-reinforcing games. Oak Crest counselors actively participate, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful success opportunities for campers.

At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where groups engage in sports such as soccer, handball, football, and dodgeball. These activities and opponents rotate weekly, delivering a dynamic and competitive experience for our campers.

Creative Arts

Your child will immerse themselves in a wide range of artistic activities led by seasoned art instructors within air-conditioned classrooms located in Middlesex, NJ. Campers actively participate in activities such as ceramics, music, mad science, cooking, drama, nature exploration, Camper vs. Wild, dance, digital photography, jewelry making, computers, and more on a weekly basis.

Moreover, our Junior Girl groups have the exciting opportunity to showcase a dance routine in our annual event, Showcrest. This grand Dance and Drama Production is a significant highlight of our camp experience, occurring during the sixth week at a local venue in the evening. The production features professional sound and lighting, creating a memorable and inspiring showcase for our talented young performers.

Learn to Swim

At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of the Oak Crest experience. Our state-of-the-art aquatic facility in Middlesex, NJ, sets the standard in aquatic instruction. Third-grade Juniors benefit from our recently constructed, dedicated 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex designed exclusively for 3-8 year-olds, while fourth-grade Juniors swim in our spacious Gigantic Pool featuring eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities offer shallow water areas, ensuring a safe and progressive learning environment for swimmers as they advance in their skills.

Every morning, Juniors participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with group counselors providing additional support. These lessons are skill-based, accommodating swimmers of all levels rather than being age-dependent, ensuring a rewarding challenge for all. Our instructors undergo annual training and certification, adhering to American Red Cross standards and benefiting from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, Juniors have the opportunity to enjoy free swim sessions in the pools.

Learn to Ride a Bicycle

At Oak Crest in Middlesex, NJ, mastering the art of bicycling is a significant childhood milestone, and we provide the ideal environment for this journey with our brand new Bicycle Village. This facility boasts a 1/4 mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Beyond fostering independence, cycling imparts valuable life lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and motor skill development. Our experienced instructors offer personalized attention, empowering novice riders to build their confidence. As campers progress, they can engage in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, where Oak Crest provides appropriately sized bikes and helmets for a seamless biking experience.

Ropes Courses

In Middlesex, NJ, our Junior campers have the unique opportunity to participate in all of Oak Crest’s Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, allows campers to acquaint themselves with belaying techniques and navigate various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. The Climbing Tower offers two distinct rock walls, a thrilling 200-yard zip line, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. The High Ropes course presents additional rock walls and challenging mid-air obstacles.

Prior to each season, our ropes courses undergo rigorous safety inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide groups through the courses, conduct daily inspections to ensure ongoing safety measures are maintained.

Choice

In Middlesex, NJ, during the Choice period, campers have the flexibility to select their preferred activity for the week. Each week, campers can explore a new activity from our ever-evolving list of options. In addition to a wide range of athletic and creative choices, Junior campers also have the opportunity to participate in our annual Drama Production or be part of a specific Dance routine. This exciting annual event is known as Showcrest.

Social Development

At our Middlesex, NJ camp, campers engage in collaborative, communicative, and supportive interactions within their assigned groups throughout the day. Our dedicated counselors play an active role in nurturing an inclusive atmosphere, encouraging respectful communication and interaction among both campers and staff.
