Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders) Summer Camp near North Brunswick

At Oak Crest in North Brunswick, NJ, our junior campers engage in a diverse array of activities such as Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, Camper vs. Wild (pioneering), and more. Their schedule is enriched with a blend of athletic and creative pursuits, including Instructional Swim and the Climbing Tower. An exclusive feature for our Junior campers is the Late Night program, offering the opportunity to extend their day with a special dinner, additional swim time, extra games, a unique event, and a twilight campfire complete with S’mores.

Junior Athletics

Our Junior program, situated in North Brunswick, New Jersey, offers a diverse range of athletic activities on full-size fields. Each week, campers can immerse themselves in activities such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, and more. In addition to these options, juniors have the opportunity to explore our Skate Park and Mountain Biking Program. These sessions are led by dedicated Athletic Specialists who provide skill instruction followed by games to reinforce newly acquired abilities. Our Oak Crest counselors actively engage, partnering with specialists to create meaningful success opportunities for our campers.

At the Junior level, we introduce League Play, where groups participate in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These activities and opponents are rotated weekly, offering a dynamic and competitive experience for our campers.

Creative Arts

Your child will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of artistic activities led by experienced art teachers in air-conditioned classrooms located in North Brunswick, NJ. Our campers engage in a variety of creative pursuits on a weekly basis, including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.

In addition, all Junior Girl groups have the chance to showcase their talents in a dance routine during our annual event, Showcrest – a spectacular Dance and Drama Production. This significant production, complete with professional sound and lighting, takes place during the sixth week of camp at a local venue in the evening, providing a memorable platform for our campers to shine.

Learn to Swim

At Oak Crest, our Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of our camp experience. Our aquatic facility in North Brunswick, NJ, is truly exceptional, featuring state-of-the-art amenities. Our 3rd Grade Juniors have the privilege of utilizing our newly constructed, 12,000-square-foot Aquatic Complex designed exclusively for children aged 3-8. Meanwhile, our 4th Grade Juniors enjoy swimming in our Gigantic Pool, which boasts eight 25-meter lanes. Both facilities are equipped with shallow water areas, allowing us to start all swimmers in standing depth and progressively move them into deeper water as their skills improve.

Each morning, our Juniors engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with support provided by group counselors. Our swim lessons are skill-based, ensuring that every swimmer is appropriately challenged regardless of their age. We place a strong emphasis on instructor training and certification, adhering to American Red Cross standards and drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoon, Juniors have the opportunity for free swim in our pools, further enhancing their aquatic experience.

Learn to Ride a Bicycle

At Oak Crest in North Brunswick, NJ, we understand that mastering the skill of riding a bicycle is a significant childhood milestone. That’s why we’ve created the perfect environment for children to achieve this goal – our state-of-the-art Bicycle Village. This facility features a 1/4 mile training course, a cutting-edge pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Beyond promoting independence, cycling offers invaluable lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills. Our experienced instructors provide personalized attention, helping novice riders build the confidence they need. As campers advance, they can take part in our dynamic Mountain Biking Program, with Oak Crest supplying appropriately sized bikes and helmets.

Ropes Courses

In North Brunswick, NJ, our Junior campers have the exciting opportunity to participate in all of Oak Crest’s Ropes Courses. The Confidence Course, positioned 5 feet above the ground, provides campers with the chance to familiarize themselves with belaying and navigate various elements similar to those found in our High Ropes Course. Our Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a thrilling 200-yard zip line, and an exhilarating Giant Swing. The High Ropes course offers additional rock walls and mid-air challenges.

Prior to each season, our ropes courses undergo comprehensive safety inspections and certification by the same company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide groups through the courses, perform daily inspections to ensure ongoing safety standards are met.

Choice

In North Brunswick, NJ, our campers in the Junior program enjoy the Choice period, where they can select an activity for the week. Every week, campers have the opportunity to choose from a constantly updated list of activities. In addition to a diverse range of athletic and creative options, Juniors also have the chance to participate in our annual Drama Production or join a specific Dance routine as part of the yearly event known as Showcrest.

Social Development
