They have the freedom to participate in a wide variety of activities, with the option to explore more advanced choices. The standout events for seniors during the summer season include ‘Late Nights,’ which offers extended camp access for a special dinner, additional swimming time, extra games, a distinctive event, and a twilight campfire featuring delicious S’mores.
Senior Athletics
At our 07033, New Jersey location, senior campers engage in a diverse array of athletic activities on our full-sized fields. Their weekly schedules feature sports such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. These activities are guided by experienced Athletic Specialists, who provide skill instruction followed by gameplay focused on reinforcing the newly acquired skills. Oak Crest counselors actively participate alongside campers, working closely with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for success. Furthermore, Senior Boys and Girls incorporate League Play into their schedules, involving friendly competitions in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball, with rotating activities and opponents each week.
Creative Arts
Located in 07033, New Jersey, your child will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of artistic activities conducted in air-conditioned classrooms, under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Our weekly sessions encompass a variety of creative pursuits including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Furthermore, all Senior Girl groups take center stage by showcasing a dance routine during our annual Showcrest, a significant Dance and Drama Production. This grand event, traditionally held during the 6th week of camp at a local venue, boasts professional sound and lighting to deliver a truly impactful and memorable experience.
Learn to Swim
In 07033, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Learn to Swim Program is a fundamental component of the Oak Crest experience, taking advantage of a state-of-the-art aquatic facility. Senior campers enjoy access to the impressive Gigantic Pool, which boasts eight 25-meter lanes.
Every morning, seniors engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with additional support from group counselors. Our swim lessons are skill-based, tailored to individual proficiency rather than age, allowing us to challenge swimmers at various levels of expertise. We take pride in annually training and certifying our own instructors, drawing upon over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, senior campers return to the pools for Free Swim.
Ropes Courses
Located in 07033, New Jersey, senior campers at Oak Crest actively participate in the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course on a weekly basis. The Climbing Tower offers two distinct rock walls, a thrilling 200-yard Zipline, a challenging Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. The High Ropes course further enhances the adventure with additional rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a state-of-the-art High Ropes Confidence Course.
Safety is our top priority, with our ropes courses undergoing rigorous inspection and certification before each season by the company responsible for their construction. Additionally, our certified ropes instructors, who expertly guide the groups through all courses, conduct daily safety checks to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for all.
Choice
Located in 07033, New Jersey, our camp offers a unique Choice period where campers have the opportunity to select an activity for the week from a rotating list. Each week, campers can choose from a dynamic list of options that encompass a wide range of athletic and creative pursuits.
In addition to these choices, Senior campers also have the chance to be part of our annual Drama Production or participate in a special Dance routine, collectively referred to as Showcrest. The Senior performances in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently shine as the standout highlights of the show.
Social Development
