The summer’s most noteworthy events for senior campers encompass ‘Late Nights,’ which extend camp hours to include a special dinner, additional swimming sessions, extra games, a distinctive event, and a twilight campfire featuring the delightful indulgence of S’mores.
Senior Athletics
Seniors at our 07979, NJ camp engage in a comprehensive range of athletic activities conducted on our full-sized fields. Their weekly schedules encompass a variety of sports, including Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. These sessions are led by Athletic Specialists who provide skill instruction followed by gameplay to reinforce the newly acquired skills. Oak Crest counselors actively participate alongside campers, working collaboratively with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for success.
Moreover, Senior Boys and Girls incorporate League Play into their schedules, involving friendly competitions in sports like Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball, with rotating activities and opponents each week.
Creative Arts
Located in 07979, NJ, our program offers a wide array of creative endeavors for your child in air-conditioned classrooms, overseen by seasoned art instructors. Each week, participants have the opportunity to explore various artistic disciplines, including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Furthermore, our Senior Girl groups take center stage in our annual Showcrest, a significant Dance and Drama Production. This remarkable event, traditionally held during the 6th week of camp at a local venue, is enhanced with professional sound and lighting, ensuring a truly impactful experience for all.
Learn to Swim
Within 07979, NJ, Oak Crest’s Learn to Swim Program serves as a fundamental component of the Oak Crest experience, making use of a state-of-the-art aquatic facility. Seniors enjoy access to the impressive Gigantic Pool, comprising eight 25m lanes.
Each morning, seniors engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with additional support from group counselors. Our swim lessons are skill-based rather than age-dependent, allowing us to challenge swimmers at various proficiency levels. Annually, we train and certify our own instructors, drawing upon over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children the art of swimming. In the afternoons, Senior Campers return to the pools for Free Swim.
Ropes Courses
Within 07979, NJ, our Senior campers enjoy a weekly adventure at the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course. The Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a thrilling 200-yard Zipline, a challenging Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. The High Ropes course complements this experience with additional rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a state-of-the-art High Ropes Confidence Course.
Safety is paramount in our program. Each season, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who expertly guide the groups through all courses, conduct daily safety checks to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience.
Choice
Within 07979, NJ, our campers have the opportunity to exercise their freedom of choice during the designated Choice period. Each week, campers can select an activity from a rotating list, providing them with the chance to explore a new interest or pursue their passions. The dynamic list comprises a diverse array of athletic and creative options, ensuring a well-rounded experience.
Moreover, our Senior campers enjoy exclusive opportunities, including participation in our annual Drama Production and the special Dance routine, collectively known as Showcrest. The Senior performances in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently shine as standout highlights of our program.
