They can participate in a wide array of activities, with the option to choose more advanced options. Notable summer events for seniors encompass ‘Late Nights,’ offering extended camp hours for a special dinner, additional swim sessions, extra games, a distinctive event, and a twilight campfire featuring delicious S’mores.
Senior Athletics
Senior campers in 08544, New Jersey, actively participate in a diverse range of athletic activities conducted on our full-sized fields. Weekly schedules feature sports such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. These sessions are led by Athletic Specialists, who provide skill instruction followed by gameplay designed to reinforce newly acquired abilities. Oak Crest counselors actively engage with campers, working collaboratively with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for success.
Furthermore, Senior Boys and Girls incorporate League Play into their schedules, involving friendly competitions in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These activities rotate weekly, providing opportunities to face different opponents and diversify the sporting experience.
Creative Arts
In 08544, New Jersey, your child will have the opportunity to explore a wide array of artistic activities in air-conditioned classrooms, under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Weekly sessions encompass activities such as Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Additionally, all Senior Girl groups participate in our annual Showcrest, a notable Dance and Drama Production. This significant event, typically held during the 6th week of camp at a local venue, includes professional sound and lighting, creating a truly impactful and memorable experience for all involved.
Learn to Swim
Located in 08544, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of the Oak Crest experience, making use of a state-of-the-art aquatic facility. Senior campers enjoy access to the impressive Gigantic Pool, which boasts eight 25-meter lanes.
Each morning, seniors participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with guidance from group counselors. Our swim lessons focus on skill development rather than age, allowing us to challenge swimmers at various proficiency levels. We annually train and certify our own instructors, drawing upon over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, senior campers have the opportunity to enjoy Free Swim sessions in the pools.
Ropes Courses
In 08544, New Jersey, senior campers engage in weekly activities at the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course. The Climbing Tower boasts two distinctive rock walls, a thrilling 200-yard Zipline, a challenging Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and an exhilarating Giant Swing. Meanwhile, the High Ropes course offers further rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a state-of-the-art High Ropes Confidence Course.
Safety is paramount, as our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspection and certification before each season by the company responsible for their construction. Additionally, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all courses, conduct daily safety checks to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience.
Choice
Located in 08544, New Jersey, during the Choice period, our campers have the freedom to choose an activity for the week from a rotating list. Each week, campers can explore a new activity from a diverse list that encompasses both athletic and creative options.
For seniors, there is an additional opportunity to participate in our annual Drama Production or join the special Dance routine, collectively referred to as Showcrest. These Senior performances in both Drama and Dance productions consistently shine as standout highlights of our camp’s show.
Social Development
