They have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of activities and select from more advanced options. Noteworthy summer events for seniors encompass ‘Late Nights,’ offering extended camp access for a special dinner, additional swim sessions, extra games, a distinctive event, and a twilight campfire complete with S’mores.
Senior Athletics
In 08837, New Jersey, our senior campers enjoy a wide array of athletic activities on our full-sized fields. Weekly schedules feature sports such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. Led by dedicated Athletic Specialists, each session begins with skill instruction, followed by gameplay designed to reinforce the newly acquired skills. Oak Crest counselors actively engage with campers, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for success. Furthermore, Senior Boys and Girls incorporate League Play into their schedules, involving friendly competitions in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These activities include rotating opponents and challenges each week.
Creative Arts
Located in 08837, New Jersey, your child will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of artistic activities in air-conditioned classrooms, led by experienced art instructors. Weekly sessions encompass a wide range of creative endeavors including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more. Additionally, all Senior Girl groups showcase their talents in a dance routine during our annual Showcrest, a significant Dance and Drama Production. This remarkable event, traditionally held during the 6th week of camp at a local venue, features professional sound and lighting for a truly impactful and memorable experience.
Learn to Swim
“Located in 08837, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Learn to Swim Program is a foundational component of the Oak Crest experience, making use of a state-of-the-art aquatic facility. Senior campers have access to the impressive Gigantic Pool, featuring eight 25m lanes. Each morning, seniors participate in a 40-minute swim lesson, guided by certified swim instructors and supported by group counselors. Our swim lessons are skill-based, allowing us to challenge swimmers at various proficiency levels, rather than being solely age-dependent. We annually train and certify our own instructors, drawing on over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, senior campers return to the pools for Free Swim.
Ropes Courses
Located in 08837, New Jersey, senior campers have the opportunity to engage in the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course on a weekly basis. The Climbing Tower offers two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard Zipline, a Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and the Giant Swing for an exciting adventure. The High Ropes course features additional rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a state-of-the-art High Ropes Confidence Course to further challenge campers. To prioritize safety, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification before each season, conducted by the company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all courses, perform daily safety checks to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience.
Choice
Located in 08837, New Jersey, our camp offers a Choice period where campers have the freedom to select an activity for the week from a rotating list. Each week, campers can choose a new activity from a diverse list that includes both athletic and creative options. In addition to these choices, senior campers have the unique opportunity to participate in our annual Drama Production or join the special Dance routine, collectively known as Showcrest. The senior performances in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently shine as standout highlights of the show.
Social Development
Situated in 08837, New Jersey, our camp provides a structured environment where groups, under the guidance of our camp counselors, actively participate in team-building challenges and competitions throughout the summer. These shared experiences offer valuable lessons in collaboration, mutual support, and effective communication.
