Seniors (5th & 6th Graders) Summer Camp near Basking Ridge
Senior campers in Basking Ridge, NJ, at Oak Crest have the privilege of enjoying a wide array of activities, including thrilling day trips such as the highly anticipated visit to Dorney Park. They can actively engage in a diverse range of activities and opt for more advanced choices. The summer’s highlight events for seniors encompass ‘Late Nights,’ offering extended camp access for an exclusive dinner, additional swimming hours, extra games, a distinctive event, and a twilight campfire complete with S’mores.
Senior Athletics
At our Basking Ridge, NJ location, our senior campers are immersed in a wide range of athletic pursuits on our full-sized fields. Their weekly schedules encompass sports such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. Guided by dedicated Athletic Specialists, each session includes skill instruction followed by gameplay designed to reinforce the newly acquired abilities. Our Oak Crest counselors actively participate alongside campers, collaborating closely with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for success.
Furthermore, our Senior Boys and Girls introduce League Play into their schedules, involving friendly competitions in sports like Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball, with activities and opponents rotating on a weekly basis.
Creative Arts
In Basking Ridge, NJ, your child will have the opportunity to explore a rich array of artistic activities conducted in air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of seasoned art instructors. Our weekly sessions encompass a wide range of disciplines, including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Furthermore, for all Senior Girl groups, we offer the chance to showcase their talents through a dance routine in our annual Showcrest, a significant Dance and Drama Production. This highly anticipated event, traditionally held during the 6th week of camp at a local venue, is equipped with professional sound and lighting, ensuring an impactful and memorable experience for all participants.
Learn to Swim
In Basking Ridge, NJ, Oak Crest’s Learn to Swim Program serves as a fundamental component of our camp experience, making use of a cutting-edge aquatic facility. Seniors enjoy access to the impressive Gigantic Pool, which boasts eight 25m lanes.
Each morning, Seniors engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with the support of group counselors. Our swim lessons prioritize skill development rather than age, allowing us to challenge swimmers at various proficiency levels. We take pride in annually training and certifying our own instructors, leveraging over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children the art of swimming. In the afternoons, Senior Campers return to the pools for Free Swim.
Ropes Courses
In Basking Ridge, NJ, our Senior campers regularly partake in the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course activities. The Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a thrilling 200-yard Zipline, a challenging Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and an exhilarating Giant Swing. Meanwhile, the High Ropes course offers additional rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a state-of-the-art High Ropes Confidence Course.
To ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspection and certification processes before each season, conducted by the company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who expertly guide the groups through all courses, perform daily safety checks to maintain a secure environment.
Choice
In Basking Ridge, NJ, our campers enjoy the Choice period, during which they can select an activity for the week from a rotating list of options. Each week, campers have the opportunity to choose a new activity from a diverse list that encompasses both athletic and creative pursuits.
Moreover, Seniors have the privilege of participating in our annual Drama Production or taking part in a special Dance routine, collectively known as Showcrest. The Senior performances in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently shine as standout highlights of our program.
Social Development
