Seniors (5th & 6th Graders) Summer Camp near Colonia
Colonia, NJ’s senior campers at Oak Crest experience an array of activities, including thrilling day trips such as the highly anticipated visit to Dorney Park. They have the opportunity to engage in a wide selection of activities, with more advanced options available. Notable summer events for seniors include ‘Late Nights,’ offering extended camp access for a special dinner, additional swim time, extra games, a unique event, and a twilight campfire complete with S’mores.
Senior Athletics
At our Colonia, NJ facility, senior campers partake in a wide array of athletic activities held on our full-sized fields. Weekly schedules feature sports such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. These sessions are led by dedicated Athletic Specialists who provide skill instruction followed by gameplay designed to reinforce the newly acquired skills. Oak Crest counselors actively engage with campers, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for success.
Furthermore, our Senior Boys and Girls incorporate League Play into their schedules, engaging in friendly competitions in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These activities feature rotating opponents each week, adding an element of variety and excitement to the experience.
Creative Arts
Located in Colonia, NJ, our program offers a rich array of artistic activities for your child, conducted in climate-controlled classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Weekly sessions encompass a wide spectrum of creative pursuits, including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Camper vs. Wild adventures, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Furthermore, our Senior Girl groups take center stage as they present dance routines in our annual Showcrest, a prominent Dance and Drama Production. This significant event typically takes place during the 6th week of camp at a local venue and features professional-grade sound and lighting, ensuring a truly impactful and memorable experience for all involved.
Learn to Swim
In Colonia, NJ, Oak Crest’s Learn to Swim Program serves as a fundamental component of the Oak Crest experience, making use of a state-of-the-art aquatic facility that includes the impressive Gigantic Pool featuring eight 25m lanes.
Each morning, senior campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with additional support from group counselors. Our swim lessons are skill-oriented rather than age-based, allowing us to challenge swimmers of varying proficiency levels. Our instructors undergo annual training and certification, drawing upon over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, senior campers have the opportunity to return to the pools for Free Swim.
Ropes Courses
In Colonia, NJ, our senior campers enjoy weekly sessions at the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course, offering thrilling experiences and personal growth opportunities. The Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard Zipline, a Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. Meanwhile, the High Ropes course includes additional rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a state-of-the-art High Ropes Confidence Course.
Safety is paramount in these adventures. Before each season, our ropes courses undergo meticulous inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide and supervise campers through these courses, perform daily safety checks to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for all.
Choice
Located in Colonia, NJ, our campers enjoy the Choice period, where they can pick an activity for the week from a rotating list. Each week, campers can explore a fresh selection from a dynamic list that encompasses a variety of athletic and creative options. In addition to these choices, senior campers have the unique opportunity to engage in our annual Drama Production or become part of the special Dance routine, collectively known as Showcrest. The Senior performances in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently shine as standout highlights of the show.
Social Development
Colonia, NJ is where our campers, under the guidance of our camp counselors, actively participate in team-building challenges and competitions throughout the summer. These shared experiences serve as valuable lessons in collaboration, mutual support, and effective communication. The group dynamics, coupled with the proactive involvement of our counselors, promote respect within the group and foster the formation of lasting friendships.
