Seniors (5th & 6th Graders) Summer Camp near Edison
Seniors at our Edison, NJ camp have exclusive access to a variety of activities at Oak Crest, including exciting day trips such as the highly sought-after visit to Dorney Park. They can engage in a wide array of activities and select from more advanced options. Notable summer highlights for senior campers encompass ‘Late Nights,’ offering extended camp access for a special dinner, additional swimming time, extra games, a distinctive event, and a twilight campfire featuring delicious S’mores.
Senior Athletics
At our Edison, NJ camp, seniors have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of athletic activities on our full-sized fields. Each week, our schedules are packed with sports such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. Our dedicated Athletic Specialists lead each session, providing skill instruction and facilitating gameplay to reinforce newly acquired abilities. Our Oak Crest counselors actively participate alongside campers, working closely with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for success.
In addition to these activities, Senior Boys and Girls also participate in League Play as part of their schedules. This involves friendly competitions in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball, with rotating activities and opponents each week, enhancing the overall camp experience.
Creative Arts
Edison, NJ offers a wealth of artistic activities for your child, with air-conditioned classrooms and experienced art teachers providing guidance. Weekly sessions encompass a diverse range of options including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Furthermore, our Senior Girl groups take center stage with a dance routine showcased in our annual Showcrest, a notable Dance and Drama Production. This significant event, typically held during the 6th week of camp at a local venue, features professional sound and lighting, ensuring an impactful and memorable experience for all.
Learn to Swim
In Edison, NJ, Oak Crest’s Learn to Swim Program is a foundational aspect of our camp experience, taking place in a state-of-the-art aquatic facility. Seniors have access to the impressive Gigantic Pool, equipped with eight 25m lanes.
Every morning, Senior campers engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with the support of group counselors. Our swim lessons are skill-based, tailored to individual proficiency rather than age, allowing us to challenge swimmers at various levels. We take pride in annually training and certifying our own instructors, drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, Senior Campers return to the pools for Free Swim.
Ropes Courses
In Edison, NJ, our Senior campers enjoy weekly participation in the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course, providing them with thrilling outdoor experiences. The Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard Zipline, a Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and an exhilarating Giant Swing. The High Ropes course offers additional rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a state-of-the-art High Ropes Confidence Course.
Safety is our top priority, and we ensure it by subjecting our ropes courses to rigorous inspection and certification before each season, conducted by the company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who expertly lead the groups through all courses, conduct daily safety checks to guarantee a secure and enjoyable adventure for our campers.
Choice
In Edison, NJ, our campers enjoy the freedom of choice during the Choice period. Each week, they can select a new activity from a rotating list that offers a diverse range of athletic and creative options. Additionally, Seniors have the unique opportunity to participate in our annual Drama Production or join the special Dance routine, collectively known as Showcrest. The Senior performances in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently shine as standout highlights of the show.
Social Development
In Edison, NJ, under the attentive guidance of our camp counselors, camp groups actively participate in team-building challenges and competitions throughout the summer. These collective experiences are designed to instill valuable lessons in collaboration, mutual support, and effective communication. The dynamic group interactions, coupled with the active involvement of counselors, promote respect within the group and facilitate the formation of lasting friendships.
