Seniors (5th & 6th Graders) Summer Camp near Highland Park
Highland Park, NJ, senior campers at Oak Crest have the privilege of accessing a wide range of activities, including thrilling day trips such as the highly anticipated visit to Dorney Park. These campers can engage in a diverse selection of activities and opt for more advanced options. Among the summer’s standout events for seniors are the ‘Late Nights,’ offering extended camp access with a special dinner, additional swim time, extra games, a distinctive event, and an enchanting twilight campfire complete with S’mores.
Senior Athletics
At our Highland Park, NJ facility, seniors are actively involved in a diverse array of athletic activities, utilizing our full-sized fields. Their weekly schedules encompass a wide range of sports, including Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. These activities are led by experienced Athletic Specialists, with each session involving skill instruction followed by gameplay to reinforce the newly acquired skills. Our Oak Crest counselors actively participate alongside campers, working closely with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for success.
Moreover, Senior Boys and Girls also integrate League Play into their schedules, which involves friendly competitions in sports like Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These activities feature rotating opponents and activities each week, enhancing the overall camp experience.
Creative Arts
Highland Park, NJ offers a rich artistic experience for your child, with a diverse array of indoor artistic activities conducted in air-conditioned classrooms, led by seasoned art instructors. Weekly sessions encompass an extensive range of disciplines, including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Furthermore, our Senior Girl groups add an extra layer of creativity by presenting a dance routine in our annual Showcrest, a prominent Dance and Drama Production. This significant event, traditionally hosted during the 6th week of camp at a local venue, features professional sound and lighting for a truly impactful experience.
Learn to Swim
In Highland Park, NJ, Oak Crest’s Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of our camp experience, making use of a state-of-the-art aquatic facility. Seniors gain access to the impressive Gigantic Pool, boasting eight 25m lanes.
Each morning, our senior campers engage in a 40-minute swim lesson under the guidance of certified swim instructors, with support from group counselors. Our swim lessons are skill-based, rather than age-dependent, allowing us to challenge swimmers at various proficiency levels. We take pride in annually training and certifying our own instructors, drawing upon more than 25 years of practical experience in teaching children the art of swimming. In the afternoons, senior campers have the opportunity to enjoy Free Swim in the pools.
Ropes Courses
In Highland Park, NJ, our senior campers enjoy weekly adventures on the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course. The Climbing Tower offers two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard Zipline, a Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and an exhilarating Giant Swing. The High Ropes course complements this experience with additional rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a state-of-the-art High Ropes Confidence Course.
To prioritize safety, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction before each season. Moreover, our certified ropes instructors, who expertly guide the groups through all courses, diligently conduct daily safety checks to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for our campers.
Choice
Highland Park, NJ offers campers a unique opportunity during the Choice period. They can choose an activity for the week from a rotating list that includes both athletic and creative options. Each week, campers have the chance to explore new activities from a dynamic selection.
In addition to these choices, Senior campers have the special privilege of participating in our annual Drama Production or taking part in a distinctive Dance routine, collectively known as Showcrest. The Senior performances in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently shine as standout highlights of the show.
Social Development
In Highland Park, NJ, our camp counselors oversee and guide groups through team-building challenges and competitions throughout the summer. These collaborative experiences offer valuable lessons in teamwork, mutual support, and effective communication.
