Seniors (5th & 6th Graders) Summer Camp near Kendall Park
Senior campers in Kendall Park, New Jersey, at Oak Crest Camp, have the opportunity to fully engage in a wide array of activities, which includes exciting day trips such as the highly anticipated visit to Dorney Park. These seniors can participate in a diverse selection of activities and even opt for more advanced options. The summer’s highlight events for senior campers encompass ‘Late Nights,’ offering extended camp hours for a special dinner, additional swimming opportunities, extra games, a distinctive event, and a twilight campfire complete with S’mores.
Senior Athletics
At our Kendall Park, NJ location, senior campers enjoy a diverse array of athletic activities within our expansive full-sized fields. Weekly schedules are packed with sports including Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. These sessions are led by dedicated Athletic Specialists, where each session combines skill instruction and gameplay to reinforce newly acquired skills. Oak Crest counselors actively engage alongside campers, working in collaboration with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for success.
Furthermore, our Senior Boys and Girls incorporate League Play into their schedules, participating in friendly competitions spanning Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball, with rotating activities and opponents each week.
Creative Arts
Located in Kendall Park, NJ, our program offers a rich array of artistic activities for your child to explore, all conducted in air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art teachers. Weekly sessions encompass a wide range of options, including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Additionally, our Senior Girl groups have the opportunity to showcase their talents in a special way by performing a dance routine in our annual Showcrest. This grand Dance and Drama Production is a significant event, typically held during the 6th week of camp at a local venue, complete with professional sound and lighting, creating an impactful and memorable experience for all involved.
Learn to Swim
Located in Kendall Park, NJ, Oak Crest’s Learn to Swim Program is a fundamental component of our camp experience, making use of a state-of-the-art aquatic facility. Seniors have exclusive access to our impressive Gigantic Pool, boasting eight 25m lanes.
Every morning, senior campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson guided by certified swim instructors, with additional support from group counselors. Our swim lessons are skill-based, tailored to individual proficiency levels rather than age, ensuring that we can challenge swimmers appropriately. We take pride in annually training and certifying our own instructors, drawing upon over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, senior campers return to the pools for Free Swim.
Ropes Courses
Kendall Park, NJ is home to an exhilarating experience for our senior campers, who engage in the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course on a weekly basis. The Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard Zipline, a Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and the thrilling Giant Swing. The High Ropes course adds to the excitement with additional rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a state-of-the-art High Ropes Confidence Course.
Safety is our top priority, and to ensure it, our ropes courses undergo meticulous inspection and certification before each season by the company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who lead the groups through all the courses, conduct daily safety checks to provide a secure and memorable experience.
Choice
In Kendall Park, NJ, the Choice period offers campers the opportunity to choose a weekly activity from a rotating selection. Each week, campers can opt for a new activity from a diverse list that spans both athletic and creative pursuits. In addition to these choices, senior campers have the chance to be part of our annual Drama Production or join the special Dance routine, collectively known as Showcrest. The Senior performances in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently shine as standout highlights of our camp program.
Social Development
In Kendall Park, NJ, our campers, under the guidance of dedicated counselors, participate in a series of team-building challenges and competitions throughout the summer. These shared experiences offer invaluable lessons in collaboration, mutual support, and effective communication. The group dynamics, combined with the active participation of our counselors, promote respect within the group and facilitate the formation of enduring friendships.
