Seniors (5th & 6th Graders) Summer Camp near Monmouth Junction
Senior campers in Monmouth Junction, NJ, at Oak Crest have the privilege of enjoying a wide array of activities, including thrilling day excursions such as the highly anticipated visit to Dorney Park. They have the freedom to engage in a diverse selection of activities and opt for more advanced options. Among the highlights of the summer for seniors are the ‘Late Nights’ events, which offer extended camp access for a special dinner, extra swim time, additional games, unique gatherings, and a twilight campfire complete with S’mores.
Senior Athletics
At our Monmouth Junction, NJ facility, senior participants are immersed in a diverse array of athletic activities, all conducted on our full-sized fields. Weekly schedules are carefully crafted to include a variety of sports, such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. These activities are led by specialized Athletic Instructors, with each session consisting of skill instruction and gameplay designed to reinforce the newly acquired abilities. Oak Crest counselors actively engage with campers, collaborating closely with the specialists to create meaningful opportunities for success.
Moreover, Senior Boys and Girls incorporate League Play into their schedules, which involves friendly competitions in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These league activities feature rotating activities and opponents on a weekly basis, enhancing the overall camp experience.
Creative Arts
Located in Monmouth Junction, NJ, our program offers children a diverse array of artistic activities in comfortable, air-conditioned classrooms, overseen by experienced art instructors. Each week, campers have the opportunity to explore a wide range of creative disciplines, including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Additionally, all Senior Girl groups participate in a special showcase during our annual event called Showcrest, which is a significant Dance and Drama Production. This remarkable occasion, traditionally scheduled for the 6th week of camp at a local venue, is equipped with professional sound and lighting to provide an impactful and memorable experience.
Learn to Swim
Located in Monmouth Junction, NJ, Oak Crest’s Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of our camp experience, making use of a state-of-the-art aquatic facility. Our senior campers have access to the impressive Gigantic Pool, which boasts eight 25m lanes.
Every morning, seniors engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with additional support from group counselors. Our swim lessons prioritize skill development rather than age, allowing us to challenge swimmers at various proficiency levels. We annually train and certify our own instructors, drawing upon over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, senior campers return to the pools for Free Swim.
Ropes Courses
Monmouth Junction, NJ offers our senior campers an exhilarating experience with weekly participation in both the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course. The Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a thrilling 200-yard Zipline, a Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and an exciting Giant Swing. Meanwhile, the High Ropes course adds to the adventure with more rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a cutting-edge High Ropes Confidence Course.
Safety is our top priority. Before each season, our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction. Moreover, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all the courses, conduct daily safety checks to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for our campers.
Choice
In Monmouth Junction, NJ, during the Choice period, our campers have the chance to exercise their autonomy by selecting a weekly activity from a diverse and rotating list. Each week, campers can choose a new activity from this dynamic list, which offers a wide spectrum of athletic and creative options.
Moreover, our senior campers enjoy exclusive opportunities, such as participating in our annual Drama Production or joining the special Dance routine, collectively known as Showcrest. The senior performances in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently shine as standout highlights of the show.
Social Development
Monmouth Junction, NJ is the backdrop for our camp’s unique team-building experiences and competitions, thoughtfully guided by our dedicated camp counselors throughout the summer. These shared challenges instill important lessons in collaboration, mutual support, and effective communication among the campers.
