Seniors (5th & 6th Graders) Summer Camp near New Brunswick
Senior campers in New Brunswick, NJ, have the privilege of accessing Oak Crest’s wide array of activities, including exhilarating day trips such as the highly anticipated visit to Dorney Park. They have the opportunity to engage in a comprehensive selection of activities, with the option to explore more advanced offerings. Notable summer events for seniors comprise ‘Late Nights,’ offering extended camp access for an exclusive dinner experience, additional swim sessions, extra gaming opportunities, a distinctive event, and a twilight campfire featuring delectable S’mores.
Senior Athletics
At our New Brunswick, NJ location, senior campers enjoy an extensive array of athletic pursuits on our full-sized fields. Their weekly schedules feature a diverse selection of sports, including Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. Our dedicated Athletic Specialists lead each session, providing skill instruction and guiding gameplay to reinforce newly acquired abilities. Oak Crest counselors actively participate alongside campers, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for success.
Furthermore, Senior Boys and Girls integrate League Play into their schedules, engaging in friendly competitions in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These competitions involve rotating activities and opponents each week, fostering camaraderie and skill development.
Creative Arts
Located in New Brunswick, NJ, our program offers a rich variety of artistic activities for your child in comfortable, air-conditioned classrooms, led by experienced art instructors. Weekly sessions encompass a wide range of creative pursuits, including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
In addition, all Senior Girl groups take part in a special dance routine showcased in our annual event called Showcrest. This significant Dance and Drama Production, traditionally held during the 6th week of camp at a local venue, features professional sound and lighting to create a truly impactful experience.
Learn to Swim
In New Brunswick, NJ, Oak Crest’s Learn to Swim Program is an integral component of the Oak Crest experience, making use of a state-of-the-art aquatic facility. Seniors have exclusive access to the impressive Gigantic Pool, featuring eight 25m lanes.
Each morning, senior campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with the additional support of group counselors. Our swim lessons prioritize skill development rather than being age-dependent, allowing us to cater to swimmers of varying proficiency levels. Annually, we rigorously train and certify our own instructors, drawing upon over 25 years of practical expertise in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, senior campers return to the pools for Free Swim.
Ropes Courses
In New Brunswick, NJ, our senior campers engage in weekly adventures at the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course. The Climbing Tower boasts two unique rock walls, a thrilling 200-yard Zipline, a challenging Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and an exhilarating Giant Swing. Meanwhile, the High Ropes course offers additional rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a cutting-edge High Ropes Confidence Course.
Safety is paramount, and we ensure the well-being of our campers through rigorous measures. Prior to each season, our ropes courses undergo comprehensive inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction. Additionally, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all the courses, perform daily safety checks.
Choice
Located in New Brunswick, NJ, during the Choice period, campers have the freedom to select their weekly activity from a rotating list of options. Each week, campers can choose a new activity from a diverse list that encompasses both athletic and creative pursuits. Additionally, senior campers have the unique opportunity to participate in our annual Drama Production or join the special Dance routine, collectively known as Showcrest. The senior performances in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently shine as standout highlights of our program.
Social Development
In New Brunswick, NJ, our camp groups, under the vigilant guidance of our dedicated camp counselors, actively participate in team-building challenges and competitions throughout the summer. These collaborative experiences impart invaluable lessons in teamwork, mutual support, and effective communication.
