Seniors (5th & 6th Graders) Summer Camp near Plainfield
Seniors attending our Plainfield, NJ camp at Oak Crest have the privilege of enjoying a wide array of activities, including exciting day trips such as the highly anticipated visit to Dorney Park. These campers can engage in a diverse range of activities and have the option to explore more advanced offerings. Notable highlights for senior campers during the summer include ‘Late Nights,’ an exclusive experience that extends camp hours to include a special dinner, extra swim time, additional games, a unique event, and an unforgettable twilight campfire complete with S’mores.
Senior Athletics
At our Plainfield, NJ location, senior campers have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of athletic activities conducted on our full-sized fields. Weekly schedules are thoughtfully designed to encompass sports such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. These sessions are led by Athletic Specialists who begin with skill instruction and then transition into gameplay, providing campers with the chance to apply and reinforce their newly acquired skills. Our Oak Crest counselors actively participate alongside campers, working in collaboration with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for success.
Moreover, Senior Boys and Girls have the added excitement of League Play integrated into their schedules. This includes friendly competitions in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball, with rotating activities and opponents each week, further enhancing the camp experience.
Creative Arts
In Plainfield, NJ, your child will have the opportunity to participate in a rich array of artistic activities within our air-conditioned classrooms, under the guidance of experienced art teachers. Each week, our program offers a diverse range of sessions, including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Camper vs. Wild adventures, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Additionally, all Senior Girl groups take part in a special highlight of our camp experience – the annual Showcrest. This significant Dance and Drama Production occurs during the 6th week of camp and is held at a local venue, featuring professional sound and lighting to create a truly impactful experience for all involved.
Learn to Swim
In Plainfield, NJ, the Learn to Swim Program at Oak Crest is a cornerstone of our camp experience, making use of a state-of-the-art aquatic facility that includes the impressive Gigantic Pool with its eight 25m lanes. Seniors at our camp engage in a daily 40-minute swim lesson, led by certified swim instructors and supported by group counselors. Our swim lessons are skill-based, tailored to individual abilities rather than age, allowing us to challenge swimmers at different proficiency levels. Furthermore, our commitment to safety and quality is evident as we annually train and certify our own instructors, drawing upon over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, senior campers have the opportunity to enjoy Free Swim sessions in the pool.
Ropes Courses
In Plainfield, NJ, our senior campers actively engage in adventure activities, including the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course on a weekly basis. The Climbing Tower is equipped with two distinct rock walls, a thrilling 200-yard Zipline, a challenging Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and an exhilarating Giant Swing. Meanwhile, the High Ropes course offers even more excitement with additional rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a state-of-the-art High Ropes Confidence Course.
Safety is our top priority, as our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification before each season, carried out by the company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide and supervise the groups through all the courses, perform daily safety checks to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for our campers.
Choice
In Plainfield, NJ, our campers enjoy a unique Choice period, where they can select an activity for the week from a rotating list of options. Every week, campers have the chance to explore a new activity from a dynamic selection that spans both athletic and creative pursuits. For our Senior campers, there are additional exciting opportunities, including participation in our annual Drama Production or joining the special Dance routine, collectively known as Showcrest. The Senior performances in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently shine as standout highlights of our camp program.
