In Raritan, NJ, senior campers at Oak Crest have the opportunity to fully engage in our diverse range of activities, including exciting day trips like the highly sought-after visit to Dorney Park. Seniors can also explore a wide array of activities, including more advanced options. Notable summer highlights for our senior campers include ‘Late Nights,’ which offer extended access to the camp with a special dinner, additional swimming time, extra games, a distinctive event, and a twilight campfire complete with delicious S’mores.
Senior Athletics
In Raritan, NJ, our senior campers at Oak Crest enjoy a wide variety of athletic activities on our full-sized fields. Our weekly schedules are filled with sports such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. These activities are led by dedicated Athletic Specialists, who provide skill instruction followed by gameplay sessions designed to reinforce the newly acquired skills. Our Oak Crest counselors actively engage with campers, working closely with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for success.
In addition, Senior Boys and Girls participate in League Play as part of their schedules. This involves friendly competitions in sports like Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball, with rotating activities and opponents each week to add an extra layer of excitement and challenge to their camp experience.
Creative Arts
Located in Raritan, NJ, your child will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a wide array of artistic activities conducted in air-conditioned classrooms, under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Our weekly sessions encompass a diverse range of activities, including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Furthermore, all Senior Girl groups participate in an annual event known as ‘Showcrest,’ a significant Dance and Drama Production. This remarkable event, typically held during the 6th week of camp at a local venue, is equipped with professional sound and lighting, creating an impactful and memorable experience for all involved.
Learn to Swim
Raritan, NJ’s Oak Crest offers a comprehensive Learn to Swim Program, serving as a cornerstone of our camp experience and making use of our state-of-the-art aquatic facility. Seniors have exclusive access to our impressive Gigantic Pool, which boasts eight 25m lanes.
Every morning, our senior campers engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with the additional support of group counselors. Our swim lessons prioritize skill development over age, enabling us to challenge swimmers at varying proficiency levels. We take pride in annually training and certifying our own instructors, drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, senior campers return to the pools for Free Swim, further enhancing their aquatic skills and enjoyment.
Ropes Courses
In Raritan, NJ, our senior campers actively engage in the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course on a weekly basis. The Climbing Tower offers a thrilling experience with two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard Zipline, a Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. For an added challenge, our High Ropes course features additional rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a state-of-the-art High Ropes Confidence Course.
Safety is paramount to us. Prior to each season, our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all the courses, conduct daily safety checks to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for our campers.
Choice
In Raritan, NJ, our campers enjoy the Choice period, where they can select an activity for the week from a rotating list. Every week, campers have the flexibility to choose a new activity from a diverse list that spans both athletic and creative pursuits. In addition to these options, senior campers also have the privilege of participating in our annual Drama Production or joining the special Dance routine, collectively referred to as ‘Showcrest.’ The Senior performances in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently shine as standout highlights of our camp program.
Social Development
