Seniors (5th & 6th Graders) Summer Camp near Sayreville
Seniors at our Sayreville, NJ camp have exclusive access to a variety of activities at Oak Crest, including exciting day trips like the highly anticipated visit to Dorney Park. They can engage in a wide array of activities, including more advanced options. Notable summer events for senior campers include ‘Late Nights,’ offering extended camp hours for a special dinner, additional swim sessions, extra games, a unique event, and a twilight campfire complete with S’mores.
Senior Athletics
At our Sayreville, NJ camp, senior campers are immersed in a diverse array of athletic activities, taking place on our expansive full-sized fields. Weekly schedules feature sports such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. These sessions are led by dedicated Athletic Specialists who provide skill instruction, followed by gameplay designed to reinforce the newly acquired skills. Oak Crest counselors actively engage with campers, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for success.
Furthermore, Senior Boys and Girls also incorporate League Play into their schedules, engaging in friendly competitions in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball, with a rotation of activities and opponents each week.
Creative Arts
Located in Sayreville, NJ, your child will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a wide variety of artistic activities, all conducted in comfortable, air-conditioned classrooms and led by experienced art teachers. Weekly sessions encompass a range of creative disciplines, including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Furthermore, our Senior Girl groups participate in an annual event called Showcrest, a significant Dance and Drama Production that culminates in a showcase of dance routines. This impressive event, traditionally held during the 6th week of camp at a local venue, features professional sound and lighting to create a truly impactful experience.
Learn to Swim
In Sayreville, NJ, Oak Crest’s Learn to Swim Program is a cornerstone of our camp experience, making use of a state-of-the-art aquatic facility, particularly the impressive Gigantic Pool with its eight 25m lanes. Seniors enjoy daily 40-minute swim lessons conducted by certified swim instructors, with additional support from group counselors. Our approach focuses on skill-based instruction rather than age-based grouping, allowing us to challenge and cater to swimmers at various proficiency levels. Our instructors are annually trained and certified, drawing on over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, Senior Campers have the opportunity to enjoy Free Swim sessions.
Ropes Courses
In Sayreville, NJ, our Senior campers engage in weekly sessions at the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course, offering a thrilling and challenging experience. The Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard Zipline, a Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. Meanwhile, the High Ropes course features additional rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a state-of-the-art High Ropes Confidence Course.
Safety is our top priority, and to ensure it, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification before each season, conducted by the company responsible for their construction. Moreover, our certified ropes instructors, who guide campers through all the courses, perform daily safety checks to guarantee a secure and enjoyable experience.
Choice
In Sayreville, NJ, during the Choice period, campers have the freedom to select an activity for the week from a diverse and ever-changing list. Each week, campers can opt for a new activity from a dynamic roster that spans a variety of athletic and creative options. In addition to these choices, Senior campers can partake in our annual Drama Production or join in the special Dance routine, collectively referred to as Showcrest. The Senior performances in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently shine as standout highlights of the show.
Social Development
