Seniors (5th & 6th Graders) Summer Camp near Scotch Plains

They can engage in a diverse selection of activities, some of which are more advanced. Notable highlights of the summer for seniors encompass ‘Late Nights,’ offering extended camp hours for a special dinner, extra swimming, additional games, a distinctive event, and a twilight campfire experience complete with S’mores.
Senior Athletics
In Scotch Plains, NJ, our senior campers enjoy a diverse array of athletic activities on our full-sized fields. Their weekly schedules encompass sports such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. These activities are led by experienced Athletic Specialists who provide skill instruction followed by gameplay to reinforce newly acquired skills. Oak Crest counselors actively engage with campers, working closely with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for success.
Furthermore, Senior Boys and Girls integrate League Play into their schedules, participating in friendly competitions involving Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These competitions feature rotating activities and opponents each week, adding a dynamic and engaging element to their camp experience.
Creative Arts
Scotch Plains, NJ offers a rich artistic experience for your child, with a variety of creative activities held in air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art teachers. Weekly sessions encompass a wide range of options including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Furthermore, our Senior Girl groups take center stage in our annual Showcrest, a significant Dance and Drama Production. This remarkable event, traditionally hosted during the 6th week of camp at a local venue, features professional sound and lighting to provide an impactful and memorable experience for all involved.
Learn to Swim
In Scotch Plains, NJ, Oak Crest’s Learn to Swim Program is an integral component of the Oak Crest experience, leveraging a state-of-the-art aquatic facility. Seniors have access to the impressive Gigantic Pool, featuring eight 25m lanes.
Each morning, seniors engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with the support of group counselors. Our swim lessons are skill-based, tailored to individual proficiency levels rather than age, enabling us to challenge swimmers effectively. We take pride in annually training and certifying our instructors, drawing upon over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, Senior Campers enjoy Free Swim sessions in the pools.
Ropes Courses
In Scotch Plains, NJ, our Senior campers regularly engage in thrilling adventures on the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course. The Climbing Tower boasts two distinctive rock walls, a 200-yard Zipline, a Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. The High Ropes course offers additional rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a state-of-the-art High Ropes Confidence Course.
We prioritize safety and conduct thorough inspections and certifications of our ropes courses before each season, overseen by the company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide campers through all courses, perform daily safety checks to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience.
Choice
In Scotch Plains, NJ, our campers enjoy the freedom to choose their activities during the Choice period. Each week, they can select a new activity from a diverse and ever-changing list that encompasses both athletic and creative options. Additionally, our Senior campers have exclusive opportunities to participate in our annual Drama Production and special Dance routine, collectively known as Showcrest. The Senior performances in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently shine as the standout highlights of the show.
Social Development
