Seniors (5th & 6th Graders) Summer Camp near Skillman
At Oak Crest in Skillman, NJ, our senior campers have exclusive access to a diverse array of activities, including exciting day trips like the highly sought-after visit to Dorney Park. They can engage in a wide range of activities and select from more advanced options. Highlighted summer events for our senior campers include ‘Late Nights,’ offering extended camp access for a special dinner, extra swim time, additional games, a one-of-a-kind event, and a twilight campfire with S’mores.
Senior Athletics
At our Skillman, NJ location, senior campers engage in a wide variety of athletic activities on our full-sized fields. Their weekly schedules encompass sports such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. Our experienced Athletic Specialists lead each session, providing skill instruction followed by gameplay focused on reinforcing the newly acquired skills. Oak Crest counselors actively join campers in these activities, working closely with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for success.
In addition to these activities, senior boys and girls also participate in League Play as part of their schedules. This involves friendly competitions in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball, with rotating activities and opponents each week.
Creative Arts
Located in Skillman, NJ, our program offers a wide range of artistic activities for your child, conducted in air-conditioned classrooms and guided by experienced art instructors. Weekly sessions encompass diverse activities such as Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Furthermore, all Senior Girl groups have the opportunity to showcase a dance routine in our annual Showcrest, a significant Dance and Drama Production. This notable event, traditionally held during the 6th week of camp at a local venue, features professional sound and lighting to create an impactful and memorable experience.
Learn to Swim
In Skillman, NJ, the Oak Crest Learn to Swim Program serves as a foundational component of the Oak Crest experience, making use of a state-of-the-art aquatic facility. Senior campers enjoy access to the impressive Gigantic Pool, equipped with eight 25-meter lanes.
Each morning, seniors engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with guidance from group counselors. Our swim lessons are skill-based rather than age-dependent, allowing us to tailor challenges to swimmers at various proficiency levels. Annually, we train and certify our own instructors, drawing upon more than 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, senior campers return to the pools for Free Swim.
Ropes Courses
Skillman, NJ is where our senior campers get to experience the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course on a weekly basis. The Climbing Tower boasts two distinct rock walls, a thrilling 200-yard Zipline, a challenging Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and an exhilarating Giant Swing. Meanwhile, the High Ropes course features additional rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a state-of-the-art High Ropes Confidence Course.
Safety is paramount, and our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification before each season by the company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who lead the groups through all the courses, conduct daily safety checks to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for our campers.
Choice
In Skillman, NJ, during the Choice period, our campers enjoy the flexibility of choosing their activities for the week from a rotating list. Each week, campers can opt for a new activity from a diverse and ever-changing list, which includes a wide array of athletic and creative options. In addition to these choices, senior campers have the unique opportunity to take part in our annual Drama Production or participate in the special Dance routine, both of which collectively make up our renowned Showcrest. The senior performances in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently shine as the standout highlights of the show.
Social Development
In Skillman, NJ, our campers, under the guidance of our dedicated camp counselors, actively participate in team-building challenges and competitions throughout the summer. These collective experiences serve as valuable opportunities to impart essential lessons on collaboration, mutual support, and effective communication.
