Seniors (5th & 6th Graders) Summer Camp near Somerset County
Seniors attending camp in Somerset County, New Jersey, at Oak Crest are treated to a comprehensive array of activities, including thrilling day excursions such as the highly sought-after trip to Dorney Park. They can engage in a wide variety of activities and select from more advanced options. The summer’s highlights for senior campers include ‘Late Nights,’ offering extended access to camp with a special dinner, additional swim sessions, extra games, a distinctive event, and a twilight campfire featuring delectable S’mores
Senior Athletics
In Somerset County, New Jersey, our senior campers enjoy a wide array of athletic activities held on full-sized fields. Their weekly schedules feature sports such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. These sessions are led by experienced Athletic Specialists who provide skill instruction followed by gameplay, emphasizing the application of newly acquired skills. Oak Crest counselors actively participate alongside campers, working in collaboration with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for success.
Additionally, Senior Boys and Girls incorporate League Play into their schedules, engaging in friendly competitions involving Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These activities rotate weekly, offering a variety of opponents and challenges.
Creative Arts
Located in Somerset County, New Jersey, our program offers a wide range of artistic activities for your child, conducted in comfortable, air-conditioned classrooms and overseen by experienced art instructors. Weekly sessions encompass a variety of creative disciplines, including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Furthermore, all Senior Girl groups participate in our annual Showcrest event, a significant Dance and Drama Production. This noteworthy occasion typically occurs during the 6th week of camp at a local venue and features professional sound and lighting for a truly impactful experience.
Learn to Swim
In Somerset County, New Jersey, the Oak Crest Learn to Swim Program is a fundamental component of our camp experience, making use of a state-of-the-art aquatic facility. Senior campers have exclusive access to the impressive Gigantic Pool, which boasts eight 25m lanes.
Each morning, seniors participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with additional support from group counselors. Our swim lessons prioritize skill development over age, allowing us to challenge swimmers at various proficiency levels. We take pride in annually training and certifying our own instructors, drawing upon over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, senior campers return to the pools for Free Swim.
Ropes Courses
Seniors in Somerset County, New Jersey, engage in weekly adventures on the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course. The Climbing Tower offers two unique rock walls, a 200-yard Zipline, a Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and the thrilling Giant Swing. The High Ropes course extends the excitement with additional rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a state-of-the-art High Ropes Confidence Course.
To prioritize safety, our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspection and certification each season by the company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all courses, conduct daily safety checks to ensure a secure and exhilarating experience.
Choice
In Somerset County, New Jersey, during the Choice period, campers have the freedom to choose an activity for the week from a regularly updated selection. Every week, campers can opt for a new activity from a diverse list that encompasses both athletic and creative options. In addition to these choices, Senior campers can seize the opportunity to be part of our annual Drama Production or participate in a special Dance routine, collectively referred to as Showcrest. The Senior performances in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently shine as standout highlights of the event.
Social Development
In Somerset County, New Jersey, our camp counselors oversee and facilitate team-building challenges and competitions for camp groups throughout the summer. These shared experiences offer valuable lessons in collaboration, mutual support, and effective communication. The dynamics within the groups, coupled with active counselor involvement, promote mutual respect and the formation of enduring friendships.
