Senior campers in Somerset, NJ, enjoy full access to Oak Crest’s diverse activities, including exciting day trips like the popular visit to Dorney Park. They can partake in a broad range of activities and choose from more advanced options. The summer’s standout events for seniors include Late Nights, providing extended camp access for a special dinner, additional swim time, extra games, a unique event, and a twilight campfire featuring S’mores.
Senior Athletics
Seniors at our Somerset, NJ engage in a diverse range of athletic activities on our full-sized fields. Weekly schedules include sports such as Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. Led by Athletic Specialists, each session involves skill instruction followed by gameplay focused on reinforcing the newly learned skills. Oak Crest counselors actively participate alongside campers, collaborating with specialists to create meaningful success opportunities.
Additionally, Senior Boys and Girls incorporate League Play into their schedules. This entails friendly competitions in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball, with rotating activities and opponents each week.
Creative Arts

Learn to Swim
In Somerset, NJ, Oak Crest’s Learn to Swim Program stands as a foundational element of the Oak Crest experience, utilizing a state-of-the-art aquatic facility. Seniors have access to the impressive Gigantic Pool, featuring eight 25m lanes.
Each morning, Seniors partake in a 40-minute swim lesson guided by certified swim instructors, with support from group counselors. Our swim lessons are skill-based rather than age-dependent, allowing us to challenge swimmers at various proficiency levels. We annually train and certify our own instructors, drawing on more than 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, Senior Campers return to the pools for Free Swim.
Ropes Courses
In Somerset, NJ, Seniors participate in the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course weekly. The Climbing Tower features two distinct rock walls, a 200-yard Zipline, a Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and the Giant Swing. The High Ropes course includes additional rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a state-of-the-art High Ropes Confidence Course.
To ensure safety, our ropes courses undergo inspection and certification before each season by the company responsible for their construction. Additionally, our certified ropes instructors, who lead the groups through all courses, conduct daily safety checks.
Choice
In Somerset, NJ, during the Choice period, campers can choose an activity for the week from a rotating list. Every week, campers have the option to select a new activity from a dynamic list that includes a range of athletic and creative options. Beyond these choices, Seniors have the opportunity to participate in our annual Drama Production or take part in the special Dance routine, collectively known as Showcrest. The Senior performances in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently stand out as highlights of the show.
Social Development
