Seniors (5th & 6th Graders) Summer Camp near Westfield

These campers can select from a variety of activities, including more advanced options. Notable events for seniors during the summer season encompass “Late Nights,” which extend camp hours for a special dinner, additional swimming, extra games, a distinctive event, and a twilight campfire featuring S’mores.
Senior Athletics
In Westfield, NJ, our senior campers at Oak Crest engage in a diverse range of athletic activities on our full-sized fields. Each week, their schedules are packed with sports like Soccer, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse, Archery, Basketball, Hockey, BMX, Skateboarding, and more. Our team of Athletic Specialists leads each session, offering skill instruction followed by gameplay designed to reinforce the newly acquired skills. Oak Crest counselors actively participate alongside campers, working collaboratively with specialists to create meaningful opportunities for success.
Furthermore, Senior Boys and Girls incorporate League Play into their schedules, which includes friendly competitions in Soccer, Handball, Football, and Dodgeball. These activities feature rotating opponents and activities on a weekly basis, adding an extra layer of excitement and variety to their camp experience.
Creative Arts
In Westfield, NJ, your child will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of artistic activities conducted in air-conditioned classrooms, under the guidance of experienced art teachers. Our weekly sessions encompass a rich array of options including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Camper vs. Wild, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Furthermore, all Senior Girl groups take center stage as they showcase a dance routine in our annual Showcrest, a highly significant Dance and Drama Production. This major event is traditionally held during the 6th week of camp at a local venue, complete with professional sound and lighting, creating an impactful and memorable experience for all involved.
Learn to Swim
In Westfield, NJ, Oak Crest’s Learn to Swim Program plays a fundamental role in the Oak Crest experience, making use of a state-of-the-art aquatic facility, notably the impressive Gigantic Pool equipped with eight 25m lanes.
Every morning, seniors engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with the additional support of group counselors. Our approach to swim lessons is skill-based rather than age-dependent, allowing us to challenge swimmers at various proficiency levels. We take pride in annually training and certifying our own instructors, drawing upon over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. In the afternoons, senior campers return to the pools for Free Swim, providing them with opportunities to further enjoy and practice their swimming skills.
Ropes Courses
In Westfield, NJ, seniors at Oak Crest actively engage in the Climbing Tower and High Ropes course on a weekly basis. The Climbing Tower offers a diverse range of challenges, featuring two distinct rock walls, a thrilling 200-yard Zipline, a Giant Cargo Net, Jacob’s Ladder, and the exhilarating Giant Swing. Meanwhile, the High Ropes course includes additional rock walls, mid-air challenges, and a state-of-the-art High Ropes Confidence Course.
We prioritize safety and undergo rigorous procedures to ensure it. Before each season, our ropes courses undergo inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide and supervise the groups throughout all courses, conduct daily safety checks to guarantee a secure and enjoyable experience for all participants.
Choice
In Westfield, NJ, our campers enjoy the Choice period, where they have the opportunity to select an activity for the week from a rotating list of options. Each week, campers can explore new experiences by choosing from a dynamic list that encompasses a wide spectrum of athletic and creative activities.
Additionally, for our Senior campers, there are special opportunities such as participating in our annual Drama Production or taking part in the unique Dance routine, collectively known as Showcrest. The Senior performances in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently shine as standout highlights of our program, showcasing their talents and creativity.
Social Development
