Summer Camp near 07016
Oak Crest Day Camp, located near 07016 in NJ, is the ideal summer destination for children aged 3 to 15. It stands out for its convenience, providing door-to-door transportation for many families, making it a hassle-free choice for busy parents. At Oak Crest, every day is an adventure, offering a wide range of activities tailored to engage and excite children of all ages.
For younger campers, the camp offers activities like swimming, biking, rock climbing, and arts and crafts, ensuring a summer filled with both fun and educational experiences. As children grow, they can delve into specialized programs such as special day trips and overnight excursions, perfect for those seeking adventure and independence. These activities aren’t just about enjoyment; they’re also about fostering lifelong skills.

3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins)
At Oak Crest, we offer two programs for 3 to 5-year-olds in our Munchkin Division: a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. What sets us apart is our commitment to maintaining a low camper-to-staff ratio, ensuring each child receives personalized attention. Within these programs, our groups consist of 10 to 12 campers led by 3 to 4 staff members, placing a strong emphasis on safety and providing nurturing care.
One of the key highlights of our Munchkin Program is its focus on swimming. We prioritize building a sense of comfort and proficiency in the water. We understand the importance of early swimming skills, and our specially trained Munchkin Specialists work diligently to provide an age-appropriate and enriching swimming experience.
But it’s not just about swimming; our program also aims to enhance gross and fine motor skills through a variety of athletic and creative activities. These activities are designed to promote physical development and creativity in young children. Our goal is to offer a well-rounded experience that fosters both physical and mental growth, all in a safe and supportive environment.
Explorers (1st and 2nd Graders)
For parents residing in the 07016 area, our Explorer program offers an enriching experience for first and second graders. Just like our Munchkins, Explorers participate in a variety of athletic and creative activities. This not only promotes physical development but also nurtures their creativity.
Swimming skills continue to be a focus in the Explorer program, building on what they’ve learned in previous years. In addition, we emphasize the development of social and emotional intelligence, helping children build essential life skills.
For first graders, we introduce exciting elements such as the Climbing Tower, Zipline, Giant Swing, and GAGA. These activities add a thrilling dimension to their camp experience, encouraging them to conquer challenges and gain confidence.
In the second grade, campers have the opportunity to personalize their experience through CHOICE periods. This means they can select their preferred activities on a weekly basis, tailoring their camp adventure to their individual interests. It’s all about giving them a sense of ownership and choice, making their time at camp even more enjoyable and rewarding.
Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders)
For parents in the 07016 area, Oak Crest offers an extensive program for Juniors that encompasses a variety of exciting activities. These activities include Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, and Camper vs. Wild.
The Junior program isn’t just about fun; it’s designed to provide a well-rounded experience. In addition to the adventurous activities, Juniors also engage in both athletic and creative pursuits, fostering physical development and creativity.
Instructional Swim is an essential part of their program, ensuring that they continue to develop their swimming skills. Juniors also have access to the Climbing Tower, where they can challenge themselves and build confidence.
Furthermore, Juniors get to enjoy Late Nights, which extend their camp access. This includes a special dinner, extra swim time, engaging games, a unique event, and a campfire under the twilight sky with delicious S’mores. It’s all about creating unforgettable memories and providing a wholesome summer experience for your child.
Seniors (5th & 6th Graders)
For parents living in the 07016 area, Oak Crest’s Senior camper program is designed to provide a comprehensive and thrilling summer experience.
Senior campers have access to all camp activities, ensuring they can make the most of their time at Oak Crest. Additionally, they get the opportunity to embark on exciting day trips, including visits to places like Dorney Park, which adds an extra layer of excitement and adventure to their summer.
Furthermore, we offer a wide array of advanced Choice offerings for Senior campers. These choices allow them to tailor their camp experience to their individual interests and preferences, fostering a sense of ownership and personal growth.
Senior Late Nights are another highlight of the program. This extended camp time includes a special dinner, extra swim time, engaging games, a unique event, and a campfire under the twilight sky with delightful S’mores. These evenings are designed to create lasting memories and add a sense of camaraderie to their camp experience.
Teen Travel (7th, 8th, & 9th Graders)
Our campers in the 07016 area have a fantastic opportunity during the Choice period. They get to choose an activity they want to participate in for the week, and this selection can change each week. Our list of activities for Choice is constantly evolving, offering a diverse range of options.
In addition to the athletic and creative activities, our Senior campers have unique opportunities. They can take on roles in our annual Drama Production or be part of our special Dance routine, which we fondly call Showcrest. The Senior campers’ involvement in both the Drama and Dance productions is always a highlight of the show, showcasing their talents and adding a special touch to the overall camp experience.
Social Development
At Oak Crest, our camp counselors play a vital role in guiding campers through team-building challenges and competitions. These activities are not only fun but also serve as a platform to foster essential life skills such as teamwork, support, and communication.
We’ve created a structured environment where campers learn to respect each other and form lasting friendships. Our commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy for bullying underscores our dedication to creating a safe and caring atmosphere. Our ultimate goal is to help children and young teens develop the critical emotional and social skills they need for a successful future.
LIT Program (10th & 11th Graders)
The LIT (Leaders-in-Training) Experience is a unique opportunity for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders residing in the 07016 area to develop valuable leadership skills in a dynamic setting. This program is designed to not only benefit the participants but also enhance the overall camp experience for younger campers.
During the LIT Experience, participants delve into hands-on leadership development. They concentrate on honing skills like problem-solving, role modeling, and teamwork, which are essential in various aspects of life. This program places a strong emphasis on instilling a sense of responsibility, with the aim of preparing LITs for future success in college and their careers. Moreover, it opens doors for them to potentially take on exceptional roles as camp staff, contributing to the camp’s positive and supportive atmosphere.
