For the younger campers, there are activities like swimming, bicycling, rock climbing, and arts and crafts, ensuring that their summer is both fun and educational. 3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins)
Oak Crest offers specialized programs for 3 to 5-year-olds in our Munchkin Division, featuring a 5 full-day and a 3 full-day option. We pride ourselves on maintaining a low camper-to-staff ratio, ensuring personalized attention and safety. Each group consists of 10 to 12 campers led by 3 to 4 staff members who prioritize nurturing care.
One of the core focuses of our Munchkin Program is swimming. We are dedicated to helping young campers build confidence and proficiency in the water. Our specially trained Munchkin Specialists lead these efforts to provide an age-appropriate and enriching swimming experience.
Furthermore, our program goes beyond swimming. It also emphasizes the development of gross and fine motor skills through a variety of athletic and creative activities. These activities are designed to enhance physical and cognitive abilities in a fun and engaging manner, contributing to a well-rounded experience for our youngest campers.
Explorers (1st and 2nd Graders)
Explorers, just like Munchkins, participate in a well-rounded program that includes athletic and creative activities, swimming skill improvement, and the development of essential social and emotional intelligence. In the first grade, our young campers are introduced to exciting adventures like the Climbing Tower, Zipline, Giant Swing, and the popular GAGA game. As they progress into the second grade, campers have the opportunity to personalize their experience by selecting their preferred activities on a weekly basis during CHOICE periods. This allows them to tailor their summer experience to their individual interests and preferences.
Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders)
Juniors at Oak Crest immerse themselves in a diverse array of exciting activities. This includes Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, and Camper vs. Wild adventures. Their comprehensive program is designed to foster physical and creative development.
In addition to these activities, Juniors also benefit from Instructional Swim sessions and access to the Climbing Tower. Furthermore, they get to experience memorable Late Nights, which extend their camp access, offering special dinners, additional swim time, engaging games, unique events, and the delightful tradition of a twilight campfire with S’mores. This combination of structured activities and special experiences ensures that Juniors have a fulfilling and fun summer at Oak Crest.
Seniors (5th & 6th Graders)
Senior campers at Oak Crest get the full camp experience, engaging in all camp activities, including a wide range of exciting offerings. They also embark on thrilling day trips to places like Dorney Park, adding an extra layer of adventure to their summer.
For these older campers, there’s a broad selection of advanced Choice offerings, allowing them to tailor their experience to their interests. Along with these enriching activities, Senior Late Nights provide extended camp time, special dinners, extra swim sessions, exciting games, unique events, and the cherished tradition of a twilight campfire with S’mores. This combination of structured and personalized experiences ensures that Senior campers have a rewarding and memorable summer at Oak Crest.
Teen Travel (7th, 8th, & 9th Graders)
At Oak Crest, we offer campers the opportunity to make their own choices during the “Choice” period. Each week, campers can choose from a rotating list of activities, allowing them to explore a variety of options throughout the summer. These activities include both athletic and creative pursuits.
Seniors, in particular, have the chance to take on more specialized roles. They can participate in our annual Drama Production or be part of our special Dance routine, collectively known as Showcrest. Notably, the Senior campers who join these productions often shine as the highlight of the show, adding their unique talents and energy to create memorable performances. This aspect of choice and creativity adds an extra layer of excitement and engagement to their camp experience.
Social Development
At Oak Crest, our camp counselors play a crucial role in guiding campers through various team-building challenges and competitions. These activities are designed to promote essential skills such as teamwork, support, and effective communication. In this structured environment, campers not only have fun but also develop a sense of respect for one another and forge lifelong friendships.
It’s important to note that Oak Crest takes a strong stance against bullying, maintaining a zero-tolerance policy. Our commitment is to create a nurturing and caring environment where children and young teens can grow and thrive, honing their emotional and social skills in a safe and inclusive atmosphere.
LIT Program (10th & 11th Graders)
The LIT Experience is a program that provides practical leadership skill development in an engaging and dynamic setting, with the primary goal of enhancing the camp experience for younger campers. Designed for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders, this program places a strong emphasis on key skills such as problem-solving, role modeling, and teamwork.
Participants in the LIT program are encouraged to take on responsibilities that are instrumental in their personal growth and development. The program is not just about leadership within the camp but also focuses on preparing LITs for future success in college and their careers. Additionally, it nurtures the potential for them to become exceptional camp staff in the future, making it a valuable stepping stone for their personal and professional growth.
